It connects to the same 2-cell pack configuration and communicates with the Dell EC via the same SMBus lines as the OEM unit. OEM part numbers 1WWHW and 0PD19 both cross-reference to this pack.

One full calibration cycle — full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then uninterrupted charge to 100% — writes new reference data and clears the warning within two to three cycles.

Dell says the Wh rating on this replacement doesn't match what's listed in system info — is the pack wrong?

The Wh figure shown in Windows or Dell Power Manager pulls from the battery's EEPROM register, which stores the manufacturer's rated value encoded at the cell level. A replacement pack built to 55.5Wh spec may carry a slightly different register value than the OEM cell, causing the display to show a different number even when actual capacity is correct. This is a data label difference, not a capacity fault. Run a full calibration cycle — discharge to hibernate cutoff, charge uninterrupted to 100% — and confirm charge behaviour rather than the displayed Wh figure.

New battery won't charge above 80% on the Inspiron 5565 — is the cell faulty?

Dell's BIOS includes a configurable charge limit that caps charging at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. This setting is controlled in BIOS under the Primary Battery Charge Configuration option, not by the battery itself. Check BIOS setup (F2 at POST) and switch the charge mode from "Primarily AC" or "Custom" to "Standard" to allow charging to 100%. The replacement cell is not at fault if the 80% cap was already active before the swap.

The fuel gauge jumps erratically — showing 60%, then 45%, then back to 55% within minutes on first use.

The fuel gauge IC in the Inspiron 5565 uses the previous cell's discharge curve as its reference model. When a new cell goes in, that curve no longer matches the actual voltage-to-capacity relationship of the fresh chemistry, so percentage readings swing until the IC collects real data points.
