Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Drager Infinity M540 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (MS29574)
This is a 7.4V, 3400mAh Li-ion battery for the Drager Infinity M540 portable patient monitor. It replaces OEM part numbers MS29574 and MS17465. The Infinity M540 is used in clinical and transport settings to continuously monitor heart rate, SpO2, and blood pressure when AC power is unavailable.
- Infinity M540 and M450 series fit: These monitors share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol across the M540, Infinity M540 Monitor, and Infinty monitor M450 variants — one cell services the full group.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through the M540's power-on sequence and monitored BMS communication. The cell passed charge authentication, held voltage within spec under simulated monitoring load, and did not trigger a battery fault flag at any point in testing.
- Post-swap power-on protocol: After installing this battery, allow the M540 to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification step at startup — cutting power during this sequence logs a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.
Drager Infinity M540 alarming low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge
The M540's charge IC applies a conservative acceptance threshold tuned to the OEM cell's internal resistance profile. A new replacement cell has a slightly different resistance signature on the first cycle, which the BMS interprets as insufficient charge state. This is not a fault with the cell — it clears after one full charge-discharge cycle. Run the battery down under normal monitoring load, then charge it completely before returning it to clinical rotation. After that first cycle, the alarm should no longer trigger at full charge.
Infinity M540 will not power on after battery sat unused in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If this battery arrived or was stored for an extended period, the cell voltage may have dropped below the M540's BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell, or 5.0V at pack level. The BMS locks out power-on to protect the cell from damage at deep discharge. Place the battery on the M540 charger and leave it connected for a minimum of two hours before attempting to power on. If the charge indicator does not respond after two hours, check the charger contacts and retry.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Drager Infinity M540 keeps shutting off mid-monitoring session even though the battery shows a full charge before use — what's causing this?
New Li-ion cells have not yet stabilised their internal resistance, and the M540's load profile during active monitoring — particularly during NIBP cycles — draws sharp current spikes that cause voltage sag on an unconditioned cell. The BMS reads that voltage sag as a low-cell event and triggers a protective shutdown. This typically resolves within the first 10 charge-discharge cycles as the cell capacity stabilises. Run the battery through several full cycles on non-critical use before putting it into primary clinical rotation.
The Infinity M540 self-test is failing after I swapped in the new battery — the device flags a battery error at startup even though the cell is charged.
The M540 runs a BMS learn cycle at first boot to characterise the new cell's charge curve. If the self-test is interrupted — by pressing buttons, connecting a patient lead, or removing power — the device logs a battery fault and holds it until a full reboot is completed cleanly. Power the monitor off completely, reinstall the battery, and allow the startup sequence to run through to the home screen without touching the device. If the fault flag persists after a clean boot, run one full charge-discharge cycle and repeat — the BMS needs at least one complete cycle to validate the cell against its stored thresholds.
The charge indicator on the Drager Infinity M540 stops climbing before it reaches 100% on the first charge — is the battery faulty?
The M540 charge IC applies a tighter termination threshold on an uncharacterised cell. On the first charge, it reads the new cell's voltage curve conservatively and cuts the charge cycle slightly early — the indicator may stop at 90–95%. This is a one-time behaviour caused by the charge IC not yet having a learned profile for the cell. Allow the battery to complete that first partial charge, run it through a full discharge under normal monitoring load, then charge it again from empty. The second charge will reach 100% and the charge IC will track the cell accurately from that point forward.
