Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

E-TEN glofiish X500 / X500+ — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (49004440_X500)
This 3.7V, 2400mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the E-TEN glofiish X500 and X500+. Both devices share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and charge IC protocol. Capacity is rated at 8.88Wh and sourced to match the original cell specification.
- X500 and X500+ compatibility: Both variants use the same voltage rail, physical footprint, and BMS handshake. The charge IC on the glofiish platform communicates with the cell through a shared three-pin connector — this replacement carries the same configuration, so the device accepts it without firmware conflict.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on a Windows Mobile platform matching the X500 charge profile. The BMS held cutoff at the correct upper voltage and did not trigger premature termination under simulated modem and display load.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: After fitting this cell, run one complete discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before normal use. The glofiish fuel gauge IC reads a coulomb counter calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one full cycle resets that baseline against the new cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the glofiish X500 after cell replacement
The glofiish X500 runs a combined GSM modem and display load that draws current in sharp spikes. A new Li-Polymer cell has slightly higher internal impedance on early cycles, which causes a momentary voltage sag under that load. When terminal voltage dips below the BMS cutoff threshold — typically around 3.0V — the device shuts down even though the reported state of charge is still 20–30%. This is not a defective cell. After three to five full charge cycles, impedance drops and the voltage cliff disappears.
glofiish X500 stuck on boot loop or won't power on after extended storage
Li-Polymer cells left discharged for months can drop below 2.5V per cell — at that point the BMS latches into a lockout state and blocks normal charging to prevent thermal runaway on a deeply depleted cell. The device will not power on and may not respond to the charger at all. Connect the original E-TEN charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC will trickle current into the cell at a reduced rate until voltage climbs back above the BMS recovery threshold, approximately 2.9V, after which normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions
My glofiish X500 shows a full battery right after fitting the new cell, then drops to 60% within minutes — what's wrong?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. The fuel gauge IC on the X500 uses a coulomb counter calibrated to the discharge curve of the original cell, which has a different internal impedance profile. When it reads the new cell, the percentage jumps because the curve doesn't match yet. Run one full discharge to auto-shutdown and one uninterrupted charge to 100% — after that single cycle the fuel gauge recalibrates and the readings stabilise.
The glofiish X500 feels warm near the battery compartment while charging the new cell — is that normal?
A new Li-Polymer cell arrives with higher internal impedance than a cell that has completed several cycles. The charge IC on the glofiish platform pushes a fixed charge current regardless, and the extra resistance converts some of that energy to heat in the early cycles. Warmth — not hot — during the first two or three charges is expected. If the device becomes too hot to hold, disconnect it and let it cool to room temperature before reconnecting; that indicates the charge IC is working against unusually high impedance and the cell needs a slower first charge.
After fitting the replacement battery, the X500 won't accept a charge at all — the charging indicator never appears. What do I check first?
This is almost always a BMS lockout caused by a cell that arrived below the recovery voltage threshold, around 2.9V. The BMS blocks charge current at voltages below that level to prevent damage. Plug in the original E-TEN charger — not a generic USB cable — and leave the device completely alone for 20 to 30 minutes. The charge IC will push a low trickle current into the cell; once voltage climbs above the recovery threshold the charging indicator will appear and normal charging begins.
