Fits EADS TPH700 and P3G two-way radios; replaces HR7742AAA02 and HR7742AAB02.
7.4V, 2300mAh lithium-ion pack delivers sustained transmit current without voltage sag on sustained RF output.
Gold contact strip connector slides straight into radio battery slot with positive terminal forward and locking tab engagement.
We bench-tested this cell on a TPH700 transmission cycle; BMS accepted the pack on first dock insertion without fault codes.
If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — the TPH700 platform requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS handshake before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

EADS TPH700 / P3G — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HR7742AAA02)

This 7.4V, 2300mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack on the EADS TPH700 and P3G portable two-way radios. It matches the OEM voltage rail and connector footprint on both models. Part numbers HR7742AAA02 and HR7742AAB02 are cross-compatible — same cell configuration, same BMS pinout.

  • TPH700 and P3G platform fit: Both models share the same battery bay geometry, contact strip layout, and 7.4V nominal rail. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across the two, so one pack covers either radio without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on the TPH700 dock. The BMS held cutoff at the correct low-voltage threshold and accepted charge on the first insertion without a fault condition.
  • Contact strip seating on first dock insertion: If the charger shows a fault LED on first use, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The TPH700 dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging begins.

Why the TPH700 cuts out mid-transmission on a new battery

Transmit current on the TPH700 spikes sharply the moment PTT is pressed. If the pack is at storage voltage — typically 3.7V per cell — rather than a full charge, that surge can pull cell voltage below the BMS overcurrent threshold in under a second. The BMS trips, the radio cuts audio, and it recovers within moments. This is not a faulty pack — it is a cell that has not yet been brought to operational voltage. Charge the battery fully before the first field use to avoid mid-transmission dropout.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected on a new pack

The TPH700 uses a simple voltage-threshold bar indicator — each bar maps to a voltage band, not a percentage algorithm. A new pack shipped at storage voltage reads in the lower bands immediately after insertion, which looks like a weak or partially charged battery. This is normal. After a full charge cycle, cell voltage rises into the correct band and the indicator reflects actual capacity. If bars remain low after a complete charge, check that the dock contacts are clean and the charge cycle completed without interruption.

Frequently Asked Questions

The TPH700 dock blinks a fault LED as soon as I insert the new battery — is the pack defective?

This almost always means the dock did not complete the BMS handshake on the first insertion. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip on the battery with a dry cloth, and reseat it firmly until it clicks. A single contaminated or misaligned contact prevents the dock from reading the BMS signal. If the fault LED clears after reseating, charge proceeds normally.

My TPH700 drops to reduced transmit power mid-shift but the bar indicator still shows charge — what's happening?

Sustained RF output pulls more current than voice bursts, and if cell impedance has risen — common after repeated shallow cycles on the original pack — voltage sags under that load even when resting voltage looks acceptable. The radio's power management steps TX output down to protect the link rather than dropping the call entirely. Fitting a fresh pack with a full charge cycle resolves the sag; if the problem returns quickly, check that the dock is reaching full charge voltage (8.4V across the pack terminals) before each shift.

The new battery charged overnight but the TPH700 still only shows two bars on the indicator — do I have a bad cell?

Two bars on a freshly charged pack usually means the charge cycle was interrupted or the dock lost contact before reaching full voltage. Pull the pack and measure voltage across the terminals — a fully charged 7.4V Li-ion pack should read between 8.2V and 8.4V. If it reads below 8.0V, reseat the battery in the dock and run another full charge cycle with clean contacts. A pack that still reads below 8.0V after two full cycles should be exchanged.
