Fits Endo-Mate EM13M, NE131, and NE169 handpieces; replaces OEM part U421-070.
12V 800mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers full motor torque across root canal preparation cycles.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with positive terminal seated first; locking tab clips downward to lock.
We bench-tested against the OEM pack; the BMS accepted the cell on first insertion with no fault codes.
Allow the EM13M to complete its full power-on self-test cycle without interruption before clinical use—the device validates new cell chemistry at startup, and interrupting this sequence triggers a false low-battery alarm that clears only on the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Endo-Mate EM13M / NE131 / NE169 — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (U421-070)

This is a 12V 800mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Endo-Mate EM13M, NE131, and NE169 endodontic motors. It slots directly into the cordless handpiece that powers canal preparation and root canal therapy in dental practice. Capacity matches the OEM spec at 800mAh (9.6Wh).

  • EM13M, NE131, and NE169 compatibility: All three models run on the same 12V Ni-MH cell architecture with the same connector footprint and BMS communication protocol. A single cell revision covers the full platform without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the EM13M's charge IC and load profile. The BMS accepted the cell on first insertion, passed the handshake, and held voltage within the motor's operating window across the torque range used in canal preparation.
  • Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this battery, let the Endo-Mate complete its full power-on self-test without switching it off mid-sequence. The BMS runs a chemistry verification at startup — cutting power during this step logs a false battery fault that will persist until the next complete reboot cycle.

Low battery alarm on the EM13M immediately after a confirmed full charge

The EM13M's charge IC stores reference data from the OEM cell over time. A new Ni-MH cell with a fresh chemistry profile sits outside the learned threshold window, so the BMS flags it as low even when it reads full voltage. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle through the device before clinical use — the BMS resets its reference baseline after that first full cycle and the alarm clears.

Device will not power on after the battery sat unused in storage

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–3% per day. A cell stored for several weeks can drop below the EM13M's minimum BMS recovery threshold — typically around 9.6V for a 12V Ni-MH pack — leaving the device completely unresponsive. Place the battery on charge for a minimum of four hours before attempting to power on the unit. If the charge indicator does not respond within the first 30 minutes, reseat the battery and confirm the charger output is sitting at or above 13V DC.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Endo-Mate shows a low battery warning the moment I turn it on, even though the replacement battery just came off a full charge — what's happening?

The EM13M's BMS holds chemistry reference data calibrated to the old cell it was running. A new Ni-MH cell reads outside that stored threshold on first use, so the device flags low battery even at full charge. This is not a cell defect. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle through the handpiece — the BMS resets its baseline after that cycle and the warning stops.

The Endo-Mate shuts off unexpectedly mid-procedure after I installed the new battery — is it the cell?

New Ni-MH cells carry higher internal resistance in the first 5–10 cycles before the plates fully condition. The EM13M's load profile during active canal preparation draws enough current to trigger the BMS undervoltage cutoff on an unconditioned cell, even one at a high state of charge. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles before clinical use. After conditioning, the cell's internal resistance drops and mid-use cutoffs stop.

The charge indicator on my Endo-Mate charger never reaches 100% on the first charge of the new battery — should I be concerned?

The EM13M charger applies a conservative charge ceiling when it detects a cell with no prior cycle history. This is normal charge IC behaviour with new Ni-MH cells — it is not a fault. Let the charger run to natural termination on the first cycle, then discharge the device fully through normal operation and charge again. By the second cycle the charge IC has enough data to apply a full charge curve and the indicator will reach 100%.
