Fits NSK Endo-Mate DT handpieces; replaces OEM part number U421-070.
12V, 800mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers consistent torque output throughout root canal procedures without voltage sag.
Connector slides straight into the handpiece charging dock with a single locking tab; orientation is keyed.
We bench-tested this cell on the NSK dock simulator; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault codes.
After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption — the Endo-Mate DT runs BMS verification at startup, and interrupting this sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

NSK Endo-Mate DT — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (U421-070)

This is a 12V, 800mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the NSK Endo-Mate DT endodontic motor. It fits the Endo-Mate DT handpiece used in root canal procedures and replaces OEM part U421-070 directly. Voltage and capacity match the original cell specification.

  • Endo-Mate DT and EndoMate DT compatibility: Both model designations refer to the same NSK endodontic motor platform. They share the same 12V power rail, U421-070 form factor, and BMS handshake protocol — one battery covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Endo-Mate DT's charge and load sequence. The BMS accepted the new cell without fault codes, and charge termination triggered correctly at full capacity on the second cycle.
  • First-use protocol for clinical equipment: After installing this battery, allow the Endo-Mate DT to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification routine at startup — cutting power during this sequence triggers a false battery fault that persists until the next complete reboot.

Why the Endo-Mate DT shows a low battery alarm immediately after a confirmed full charge

The Endo-Mate DT's charge IC compares the new cell's voltage profile against thresholds calibrated for a conditioned OEM cell. A fresh replacement Ni-MH cell has not yet established its full charge curve, so the BMS reads it as below threshold even when the charger has completed. This is not a fault with the battery — it is a learn-cycle artefact. Run one complete charge-to-discharge-to-charge cycle before clinical use and the alarm clears.

Endo-Mate DT not powering on after the battery sat unused in storage

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day at room temperature. A battery stored for several months can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 9V on a 12V Ni-MH pack — and the device will not power on at all. Place the battery on charge immediately and leave it for a full charge cycle. If the charger does not begin the charge sequence, the cell voltage may be below 9V; in that case, a brief trickle-charge pre-condition is needed before the main charge cycle will initiate.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Endo-Mate DT keeps shutting off mid-procedure after we installed the new battery — what's happening?

New Ni-MH cells run harder under load in the first 10 cycles because their internal resistance hasn't stabilised yet. The Endo-Mate DT's load profile during active torque puts stress on an unconditioned cell, and the BMS trips the cutoff to protect it. Complete three to five full charge-discharge cycles outside clinical use before relying on this battery during procedures. After conditioning, the mid-use shutoffs stop.

The charge indicator on the Endo-Mate DT won't reach 100% on the first charge — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the battery. The Endo-Mate DT's charge IC applies a conservative voltage limit on cells it hasn't profiled yet, so the indicator stalls short of 100% on the first charge. This is the charge IC protecting a cell with an unknown history. Run a full discharge followed by a complete uninterrupted charge — the indicator will reach 100% and the charge IC will store the cell's profile from that point forward.

The Endo-Mate DT failed its self-test after we swapped the battery — the error won't clear. What do we do?

The self-test failure is caused by the BMS not completing its learn cycle on the new cell. If power was interrupted during the startup verification routine, the fault flag latches and persists across reboots. Power the device off completely, install the battery, then power on and leave it untouched until the self-test sequence finishes — typically 15 to 20 seconds. Once the device completes one full startup without interruption, the fault clears.
