Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Harris HDP100 / HDP150 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL2006)
This is a 7.4V, 2000mAh (14.8Wh) Li-ion battery built to the BL2006 specification. It fits the Harris HDP100, HDP150, Momentum HDP100, and Momentum HDP150 portable radios. These radios are used in public safety, security, and industrial environments where transmission reliability matters.
- HDP100 and HDP150 platform fit: Both the standard and Momentum variants share the same battery bay geometry, contact pin layout, and BMS handshake protocol — all four models accept the BL2006 pack without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge cycles and simulated PTT transmit loads. The BMS handled repeated transmit current spikes without tripping into protection mode, and charge acceptance was clean from first insertion.
- First insertion on the Harris dock: If the charger shows a fault LED on first seating, remove the pack, wipe the contact pins with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The Harris dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging will begin.
Why the HDP100 cuts out mid-transmission on a freshly inserted BL2006
New Li-ion cells ship at storage voltage — typically around 3.7V per cell, not full charge. When the HDP100 hits peak transmit draw, that reduced cell voltage can sag below the radio's TX cutoff threshold, triggering a dropout. This is a cell voltage issue, not a faulty pack. Charge the battery fully before the first operational use — the radio will sustain transmission cleanly once the pack is at or above 8.0V under load.
Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting the BL2006
The HDP100 uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator — it reads the pack's resting voltage and maps it to a bar level. A new pack at storage voltage will display one or two bars even though the cell capacity is intact. This is not a capacity fault. Seat the pack in a functioning dock, complete a full charge cycle, and the indicator will reflect the correct voltage once the pack reaches 8.2–8.4V resting.

Frequently Asked Questions
My HDP100 drops to low transmit power partway through a shift even though the battery was charged at the start — what's happening?
Sustained RF output draws more current than standby use, and if cell impedance has increased from age or temperature, voltage sags under that load. The radio interprets the voltage drop as a low-battery condition and reduces TX power to protect the circuit. Check the resting voltage before your shift — if it reads below 7.6V with a full charge, the pack is not recovering fully and needs replacement. A healthy BL2006 should hold above 7.8V at rest after a completed charge cycle.
The Harris dock blinks a fault LED and never starts charging after I insert the new BL2006 — how do I clear it?
The dock uses the initial contact cycle to read the pack's BMS status before committing to a charge. If the gold contact strip on the battery has any residue or the pack wasn't seated with firm pressure, the handshake fails and the fault LED stays on. Remove the pack, wipe the contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat it with a firm, even push until it clicks. If the fault LED still doesn't clear after reseating, check that the dock's own contacts are clean and that the pack voltage isn't below the dock's acceptance threshold of approximately 6.0V.
The HDP100 was left sitting unused for several months with the BL2006 inside — now the radio won't power on at all. Is the battery dead?
Extended storage with a Li-ion pack inside the radio drains the cell below the BMS recovery threshold — typically under 5.5V for a 7.4V two-cell pack. At that point, the BMS locks out discharge to prevent cell damage, and the radio sees no voltage. Place the pack in the Harris dock and leave it for at least 30 minutes — some dock firmware includes a trickle pre-charge mode that will recover a deeply discharged cell. If the dock accepts the pack and begins charging, let it complete a full cycle before testing the radio again.
