Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hip Top Danger 2 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (IA3Y701C2)

This 3.7V, 1200mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the OEM battery in the Hip Top Danger 2 smartphone. It fits the Danger 2's battery bay directly, restoring power to calls, messaging, and applications. Voltage and capacity match the original IA3Y701C2 specification.

  • Danger 2 platform fit: The Danger 2 runs a 3.7V single-cell architecture with a BMS that monitors cell voltage and temperature. This replacement cell meets that voltage rail and communicates with the onboard protection circuit without triggering fault flags.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Danger 2 platform. The BMS accepted charge current without cutoff, and the protection circuit responded correctly to low-voltage thresholds at the expected 2.5V floor.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: On first use after installation, disable any fast-charge accessory and run one full discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Danger 2 after a cell swap

The Danger 2's fuel gauge IC retains the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When the new cell hits a steeper voltage drop under modem or display load, the IC reads that drop as a deeper state of charge than it actually is. The phone cuts power to protect the circuit before the percentage reaches zero. One full uninterrupted discharge-charge cycle forces the coulomb counter to relearn the new cell's curve and corrects the early shutdown.

Phone warm near the battery during the first few charges after replacement

A fresh lithium-polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a cell that has been cycled. The charge IC on the Danger 2 delivers current at the same rate regardless, so more energy converts to heat across the higher-resistance cell during the first one to three cycles. This is normal and reduces as impedance drops with cycling. If the device becomes too hot to hold during charging, remove it from the charger and let it cool before resuming — surface temperature should stay below 40°C at the charging port.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Danger 2 show erratic or jumping battery percentage after I put in the new cell?

The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, so it misreads state of charge on the new cell. The percentage stabilises after one complete discharge-charge cycle with no interruptions. Run the phone down until it shuts off automatically, then charge it uninterrupted to 100%. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates and percentage reporting becomes accurate.

My Danger 2 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in storage — is it dead?

A lithium-polymer cell that discharges below 2.5V in storage triggers BMS lockout to prevent damage — the phone will not boot. Connect the Danger 2 to a wall charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell until voltage climbs above the BMS recovery threshold before normal startup is possible.

The Danger 2 shuts off without warning at around 25% — why didn't it drain to zero?

Under peak load — modem active, backlight on — the cell voltage sags sharply. The Danger 2's protection circuit reads that voltage sag as a dangerously low cell state and cuts power before the display percentage reaches zero. This is a voltage cliff, not a capacity problem. One full uninterrupted discharge-charge cycle recalibrates the fuel gauge IC to the new cell's actual discharge curve and eliminates the premature cutoff.
