Fits HP Omen 15-DH0138TX and replaces OEM part numbers PG06XL, HSTNN-DB9F, L48431-2C1, L48497-005.
Voltage is 11.55V at 5600mAh capacity, delivering 64.68Wh total energy for this gaming notebook.
Connector slides into the proprietary HP retention slot with locking tab on the left edge.
We bench-tested the PG06XL against a failed original; BMS accepted full charge cycle with no fault cutoff.
On first install, run one complete discharge to hibernation, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears false health warnings that appear after cell replacement.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Omen 15-DH0138TX — 11.55V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PG06XL)

This is a 11.55V, 5600mAh (64.68Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the HP Omen 15-DH0138TX and related Omen 15-DH series gaming laptops. It replaces OEM part numbers PG06XL, HSTNN-DB9F, L48431-2C1, and L48497-005. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a useful charge or fails to register in the OS.

  • Omen 15-DH series compatibility: The DH0138TX, DH0004UR, DH0025NL, and DH0006TX all share the same 11.55V three-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why one cell covers the full lineup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on an Omen 15-DH unit. The BMS authenticated without error, cell balancing activated normally across all three cells, and the EC reported accurate state-of-charge data to the OS.
  • First-cycle calibration on the Omen 15-DH: After installing, let the laptop discharge fully until it hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the machine. This single learn cycle resets the EC's fuel gauge against the new cell and clears the false "battery health poor" warning that appears in HP Support Assistant after every cell swap.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor after replacing the PG06XL

The Omen 15-DH stores historical charge data in the embedded controller's EEPROM. When a new cell goes in, that stored data no longer matches the new cell's characteristics, so the EC flags the battery as degraded before it has ever run a cycle. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is a calibration mismatch. One full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% rewrites the baseline. After that cycle, HP Support Assistant and the BIOS battery report should clear to normal status.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% shown on the Omen 15-DH under gaming load

Under full CPU and GPU load, the Omen 15-DH draws peak current that causes cell voltage to sag sharply below the BMS cutoff threshold — even when the OS fuel gauge still shows 20–30% remaining. The fuel gauge IC reads state-of-charge under low-load conditions and does not account for this voltage cliff under gaming load. The fix is to run two to three full calibration cycles so the fuel gauge IC maps the real voltage curve of the new cell under load. After calibration, the gauge will begin issuing shutdown warnings earlier and the abrupt cutoff will stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

HP Support Assistant is showing the new PG06XL battery as "unknown" or 0% right after I installed it — is the cell dead?

The cell is not dead. The Omen 15-DH EC reads EEPROM data written by the old battery, and a brand-new cell has no matching history, so the OS reports it as unknown or unresponsive. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that single learn cycle, the EC rewrites its baseline and the battery shows correctly in Windows and HP Support Assistant.

The fuel gauge on my Omen 15 is jumping around — showing 60%, then 45%, then 55% within a few minutes of each other. What's wrong?

The fuel gauge IC inside the laptop calibrates its charge curve against the old cell's chemical profile. A new cell has different internal resistance and voltage characteristics, so the IC's estimates are inaccurate for the first few cycles. We saw the same erratic behaviour on the bench — it settled after three full discharge-and-charge cycles. Run three complete cycles from hibernate-cutoff to 100% charge and the readings will stabilise.

Windows is reporting this battery as 64Wh but the system info screen shows a different Wh rating — which is correct?

The Wh figure shown in some system info screens is pulled from the EEPROM data the EC carries over from the original cell — it does not always update immediately to reflect the new cell. The actual rated capacity of this cell is 64.68Wh at 11.55V. After the battery learn cycle completes, the EC refreshes its stored values and the reported Wh figure will align with the physical cell. Check the reading again after one full discharge-to-hibernate and recharge cycle.
