Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Spectre X360 14T — 7.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (WS04XL)
This is a 7.7V 8150mAh (62.76Wh) Li-Polymer battery for the HP Spectre X360 14T convertible ultrabook. It fits the 14T-EA000 series and specific 14-ea0000 variants including the ea0007na and ea0002ni. When the original WS04XL cell degrades and the laptop stops holding a charge, this replacement restores cordless operation.
- Spectre X360 14T series compatibility: The 14T and 14-ea0000 models share the same 7.7V two-cell Li-Polymer rail, flat form factor connector, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why OEM part numbers WS04XL, WS04066XL, and HSTNN-DB9Z all cross-reference to the same physical cell and PCB configuration.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a Spectre X360 14T unit and confirmed the BMS initialised correctly, the charge controller accepted the cell without fault codes, and charge progression through all four stages completed without interruption.
- Post-install calibration on the Spectre X360 14T: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears in HP Support Assistant after every cell swap.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new WS04XL cell
The HP Spectre X360 14T reads battery health from EEPROM data written by the original cell. When a replacement cell is installed, the BIOS has no matching EEPROM record and flags the battery as degraded or unknown — even when the cell is brand new. This is a firmware behaviour, not a battery fault. Running a full discharge-to-hibernate followed by a complete uninterrupted charge gives the BIOS controller enough cycle data to re-evaluate the cell. After one or two calibration cycles, the health indicator in HP Support Assistant returns to normal.
Spectre X360 14T shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The gauge reads 20–30% but the cell voltage has already dropped below the safe cutoff threshold under combined CPU and display load — so the system shuts down to protect the hardware. The old cell's discharge profile is still stored in the gauge IC and does not match the new cell. Perform a full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge to 100% without interruption — after two complete cycles the gauge re-maps the curve and shutdowns stop occurring above 4.2V per cell.

Frequently Asked Questions
HP Support Assistant shows the new battery as "unknown" or 0% right after I installed it — is the cell dead?
No — the Spectre X360 14T pulls battery identity data from the EEPROM on the original cell. A replacement cell has no matching record in the BIOS, so the system reports it as unknown until the learn cycle runs. Discharge the laptop fully to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After one full cycle the BIOS writes new EEPROM reference data and the gauge reads correctly.
Windows is showing the wrong Wh rating for this battery — it says something completely different from 62.76Wh.
The Wh figure Windows displays is pulled from the EEPROM embedded in the original cell, not measured live from the new one. Until the fuel gauge IC calibrates against the replacement cell's actual chemistry, it reports the old rated value. Run two complete discharge-to-hibernate and full-charge cycles. After that the gauge IC recalculates against real voltage data and the reported Wh figure corrects itself.
The Spectre X360 14T stops charging at 80% and won't go higher — is something wrong with the cell?
This is a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a cell fault. HP ships the Spectre X360 14T with an adaptive battery charge feature enabled by default that caps charging at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. The replacement cell is not the cause. Open HP OMEN Gaming Hub or HP Support Assistant, navigate to Power settings, and disable "Battery Health Manager" or switch it from "Maximise my battery health" to "Let HP manage" — the charge ceiling then returns to 100%.
