Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HumanWare SmartView Versa / Versa+ — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ICP6/34/50)
This is a 3.7V Li-ion cell rated at 1100mAh (4.07Wh), built to the ICP6/34/50 spec. It fits the HumanWare SmartView Versa and SmartView Versa+, the handheld video magnifiers used for reading documents, viewing distant objects, and performing close-up tasks. Dimensions are 53.60 × 39.15 × 6.75mm — confirm these against your existing cell before fitting.
- SmartView Versa and Versa+ compatibility: Both the Versa and Versa+ share the same single-cell Li-ion architecture, voltage rail, and physical battery bay. The ICP6/34/50 part number covers both variants — same connector orientation, same BMS handshake voltage threshold.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the cell through charge and discharge cycles on the bench, monitoring the BMS cutoff response at low-voltage threshold. The protection circuit tripped cleanly at the expected floor and recovered normally on re-charge without needing a manual reset.
- Display indicator recalibration after fitting: After installing a new cell, power the SmartView Versa on and allow it to run through at least one full charge cycle before trusting the on-screen battery indicator. The device maps its voltage curve to the new cell during that first cycle — skipping it produces inaccurate percentage readings in early use.
SmartView Versa shutting down during USB data transfer to a PC
When you connect the SmartView Versa to a PC via USB, the device draws power for both its active display and the USB data link simultaneously. On a degraded or partially discharged cell, that combined load can pull voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold even when the indicator shows charge remaining. The result is an abrupt shutdown mid-transfer. Fitting a fresh cell and ensuring it reads at or above 3.7V before initiating a transfer resolves this.
Battery indicator jumping erratically at startup after the device sat unused
If the SmartView Versa has been stored for several months without use, the cell can self-discharge below the voltage point the device uses to anchor its indicator display. On power-up, the percentage shown may spike or fluctuate before settling. This is the device's voltage-threshold indicator attempting to recalibrate to a cell that hasn't completed a full cycle. Charge the battery fully to 4.2V, then discharge and recharge once — the indicator stabilises after that cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
My SmartView Versa powers on fine but cuts out the moment I plug it into my PC — is this the battery?
Yes. USB data transfer adds a second current draw on top of the active display, and a degraded cell drops below the BMS cutoff voltage under that combined load even when the battery indicator looked acceptable. The BMS is doing its job — it's protecting an underperforming cell. Fit the replacement, charge it fully to 4.2V, then retry the transfer.
The new battery won't charge at all after the device sat in a drawer for six months — did it arrive faulty?
Probably not. If the cell self-discharged below roughly 2.5V during storage, the BMS enters a sleep state and the charger circuit in the device won't initiate a standard charge cycle. Connect the SmartView Versa to its charger and leave it undisturbed for 30–60 minutes — the charger applies a trickle current that brings the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold, after which normal charging resumes.
My SmartView Versa shows a full battery, then the screen freezes and reboots mid-use — what's causing that?
This is voltage sag under the sustained load of the display backlight and image processor running together. The cell voltage drops momentarily below the point the device needs to maintain stable operation, triggering a reset, even though the indicator reported full. It's a sign the original cell has lost capacity and can no longer hold its voltage under load. Replace the cell and run one full charge-discharge cycle so the device maps the new cell's voltage curve accurately.
