Fits HYT TC-610, TC-610P, TC-610S, TC-618 and replaces OEM battery BL1204 or BL2001.
7.4V, 1200mAh lithium-ion delivers sustained transmit power across full shift without voltage sag.
Connector slides straight into radio battery slot with positive contact strip facing outward; locking tab seats flush.
We bench-tested this cell in TC-610 transmission cycles; BMS accepted dock charge without fault LED or reset needed.
On first insertion into the TC-610 charger dock, if the fault light appears, remove the battery and wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, then reseat firmly — the HYT platform requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HYT TC-610 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL1204 / BL2001)

This is a 7.4V, 1200mAh lithium-ion battery for the HYT TC-610, TC-610P, TC-610S, and TC-618 portable two-way radios. It replaces OEM part numbers BL1204 and BL2001. Voltage and connector match the original pack, so the radio's charging dock and BMS handshake accept it without modification.

  • TC-610 platform compatibility: The TC-610, TC-610P, TC-610S, and TC-618 all share the same battery bay dimensions, contact pin layout, and 7.4V voltage rail. One battery fits all four because HYT standardised the BMS communication protocol across this radio family.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on a TC-610 body and monitored BMS response through full transmit loads. The protection circuit handled repeated PTT-triggered current spikes without tripping into lockout, and the dock accepted the handshake on first insertion.
  • First-insertion contact check: If the HYT charging dock shows a fault LED on the first seating, remove the battery and wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth before reseating. The TC-610 dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake — a single wipe resolves this in most cases.

TC-610 cuts out mid-transmission on a new BL1204 pack

A new lithium-ion cell ships at storage voltage — typically 3.6–3.7V per cell, not full charge. When the TC-610 fires a transmit burst, it draws a sharp current spike that can push a low-voltage cell into BMS overcurrent territory. The protection circuit trips the pack off before the transmission completes. Running one full charge cycle before first use brings both cells to 4.2V and raises the pack's headroom above the BMS overcurrent threshold.

Bar indicator shows one fewer bar than expected after installing a new pack

The TC-610 reads battery level through voltage thresholds — each bar on the display corresponds to a voltage band. A new pack at storage voltage sits inside the lower threshold band, so the indicator reports one or two bars even though the cell is not depleted. This is not a fault with the battery or the radio. Charge the pack to full and the indicator will step up to the correct bar count, which for a fresh 7.4V cell at capacity reads at the top threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

My TC-610 drops to low transmit power partway through a shift — is this the battery?

Yes, this is voltage sag under sustained RF output. As the cell discharges toward the lower voltage threshold, the radio's power management steps down TX output to stay within its operating range. It is not a fault in the radio or the battery — it is the radio protecting itself from a brownout. Swap to a charged pack and the TX power returns to full output immediately.

The HYT charging dock blinks a fault LED and never clears — what is causing it?

A new pack shipped at storage voltage can sit below the dock's acceptance threshold, which causes the fault LED to latch rather than begin a charge cycle. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat it firmly so the BMS handshake completes cleanly. If the LED still does not clear, leave the pack seated for 60 seconds — some HYT docks require the BMS to signal a stable voltage reading before switching to charge mode.

The TC-610 powers on but cuts out the moment PTT is pressed — is the battery faulty?

This is a BMS overcurrent trip triggered by the transmit current spike, not a defective cell. The BL1204 / BL2001 BMS cuts the pack if the cell voltage is too low to sustain the draw when the radio keys up. Charge the pack fully to 8.4V (4.2V per cell) before first use — once both cells are at full charge, the pack has enough voltage headroom to supply the PTT surge without the protection circuit triggering.
