Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HYT TC600 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL1203)
This is a 7.4V, 1250mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the HYT TC600 two-way radio. It fits the TC600 and TC-600 variants and uses OEM part number BL1203. Capacity figure is taken directly from the product specification — 9.25Wh.
- TC600 and TC-600 platform fit: Both model designations share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single BL1203-spec pack covers both without modification or adapter.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through transmit loads on the TC600 platform. The BMS held steady under PTT current spikes and recovered cleanly to float voltage after each discharge cycle — no false cutoff events recorded.
- Dock insertion on first use: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The TC600 dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before it will begin charging.
Why the TC600 cuts out mid-transmission on a freshly inserted BL1203
The TC600 draws a sharp current spike the moment PTT is pressed — transmit current can momentarily exceed the standby draw by several times. A new Li-ion cell shipped at storage voltage (typically 3.6–3.7V per cell) has higher internal impedance than a fully charged cell. Under that spike, the BMS reads the voltage dip as an overcurrent event and trips the protection circuit. The fix is straightforward: charge the pack to full before the first transmit use. A fully charged cell at 4.2V per cell handles the PTT spike without triggering BMS cutoff.
Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting the BL1203
The TC600 uses a simple voltage-threshold bar indicator — each bar maps to a voltage band, not a percentage reading from a fuel gauge chip. A new pack at storage voltage sits in the lower threshold bands, so the display shows one or two bars even though the cell is not depleted. This is not a fault with the replacement pack. Charge the battery fully and the indicator will step up to the top bar once the cell reaches its charged resting voltage of around 8.3–8.4V across the pack.

Frequently Asked Questions
The TC600 drops to noticeably weaker audio and reduced transmit range partway through a shift — is the BL1203 pack faulty?
This is voltage sag under sustained RF output, not a faulty pack. As the cell discharges past roughly 7.0V under load, the TC600 reduces transmit power to protect the radio's PA stage — range and audio both drop as a result. The pack itself is behaving correctly. Swap in a freshly charged BL1203 and the symptom clears immediately; if it returns within the first hour of a charged pack, check that the charger dock contacts are clean and making full contact.
The charger dock LED blinks continuously and never settles into a solid charge light after inserting the new BL1203 — what's causing it?
A blinking fault LED usually means the dock is reading the pack voltage as below its acceptance threshold. New Li-ion cells shipped at storage voltage can sit low enough that the dock refuses to initiate a charge cycle. Remove the pack, let it sit at room temperature for ten minutes, then reinsert it firmly so all contact points seat fully. If the dock still blinks, use a compatible external charger to bring the pack up to at least 7.4V, then return it to the dock — the dock will accept it from that point forward.
The TC600 powers on fine but the BL1203 pack drains noticeably faster than the original battery did when it was new — what should we check?
A new Li-ion pack often needs two to three full charge-discharge cycles before it reaches rated capacity. Cells shipped at storage voltage have not been through a conditioning cycle, so the first few shifts will feel short. Run the pack through three complete charges on the TC600 dock, discharging each time through normal radio use rather than leaving the radio idle. If drain rate is still noticeably high after three cycles, measure the resting voltage with a multimeter — a healthy fully charged BL1203 should read 8.3–8.4V at rest.
