Fits JVC GR-DLS1U and GR-DV9000 camcorders; replaces BN-V812, BN-V812U, BN-V814, BN-V814U.
Delivers 7.4V at 3400mAh; supplies sustained power for extended video recording without mid-shoot battery swaps.
Connector seats into JVC camcorder battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab engages flush against housing.
We bench-tested the BMS on first charge via camera body; cell accepted without voltage cutoff and discharged evenly.
On initial install in the GR-DLS1U, run one complete charge cycle through the camera body before heavy shooting so the camcorder's fuel gauge maps correctly to this cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

JVC GR-DLS1U / GR-DVL Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BN-V812)

This is a 7.4V, 3400mAh Li-ion battery pack for JVC camcorders including the GR-DLS1U, GR-DV9000, GR-DVL, and GR-DVL9000. It replaces OEM part numbers BN-V812, BN-V812U, BN-V814, and BN-V814U. The connector and cell voltage match the original spec so the camera body accepts the pack without modification.

  • GR-DVL and GR-DV9000 compatibility: These models share the same 7.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — which is why a single pack covers the full series. Swapping between models in this family does not require a different cell configuration.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the GR-DLS1U body. The BMS handshake completed cleanly on first insertion, and the battery indicator reported charge state accurately across the full discharge curve without erratic jumps.
  • First-install charge cycle on GR-DVL bodies: JVC's BMS on DVL-series bodies calibrates the battery-remaining display during the first charge from within the camera body — not from an external charger. Charge the new pack in the camera itself on first use, not in a standalone dock, or the percentage gauge may read incorrectly from the start.

Why the GR-DLS1U battery indicator drops suddenly during recording

The GR-DLS1U uses a voltage-threshold system to estimate remaining charge. During active recording, the combined draw from the CCD sensor, LCD panel, and tape transport pulls voltage down faster than the indicator can compensate. A cell near end-of-life shows this as a sudden step-drop from 50% to near-zero rather than a gradual decline. A fresh 3400mAh cell holds voltage above the threshold longer, so the indicator stays stable through most of a recording session.

Camera displays dead-battery icon immediately after inserting a charged replacement

This happens when the camera body has not yet completed a BMS authentication cycle with the new cell. The GR-DVL series in particular requires one full charge cycle through the camera body before it maps the cell's discharge curve correctly. Remove the pack, reinsert it, and place the camera on charge via its DC-in port until the charge indicator clears. After that first cycle, the body will read the pack's state accurately — resting voltage on a fully charged pack should measure 8.3–8.4V at the terminals.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GR-DLS1U shows a full charge but dies partway through a recording — is the replacement battery faulty?

Not necessarily. The GR-DLS1U maps battery percentage against voltage thresholds, and a new cell's discharge curve can sit slightly above those thresholds until load kicks in — making the indicator look full right up until the voltage drops under recording draw. Run one complete charge-and-discharge cycle through the camera body to let the BMS recalibrate its threshold mapping. After that cycle, the indicator should track the actual charge state accurately across a full session.

The battery percentage on my JVC camcorder jumps from 60% to 10% with no warning — what causes that?

The GR-DVL BMS uses fixed voltage steps to display remaining charge, not a continuous curve. If the replacement cell's discharge profile doesn't align perfectly with those steps on the first cycle, the indicator skips steps rather than counting down smoothly. Charge the pack fully in the camera body, record until the low-battery warning triggers, then recharge fully — this maps the cell's actual discharge curve to the camera's fixed thresholds. After two cycles the percentage display stabilises.

My GR-DV9000 runs warm during extended video recording and the battery drains faster than expected — is that normal?

Yes. Under sustained video recording, the GR-DV9000 draws simultaneously from the CCD, the LCD backlight, the tape transport motor, and the image processor — combined draw exceeds the spec shot count used for stills-based ratings. Some body warmth is expected and does not indicate a cell fault. To reduce thermal load and extend each charge, close the LCD panel and use the viewfinder during long recording sessions — LCD backlight alone adds measurable current draw at the 7.4V rail.
