Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

KAZAM Tornado 2 / Tornado2 5.0 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (KTT50)
This is a 3.8V, 1700mAh Li-Polymer battery for the KAZAM Tornado 2 and Tornado2 5.0 smartphones. It replaces OEM part numbers KTT50 and KTT50-GHABD002643. The cell fits the original battery bay and connects to the same BMS contact points as the factory unit.
- Tornado 2 and Tornado2 5.0 fit: Both variants share the same physical footprint, connector pitch, and 3.8V nominal rail. One cell covers both. No adapter or modification is needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Tornado 2 platform. The BMS accepted handshake on first power-on, and the charge IC stepped through CC/CV phases without fault codes.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle. The phone's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. One full cycle lets it remap against the new cell before high-current charging begins.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Tornado 2 after a cell swap
A new Li-Polymer cell has a slightly different voltage-versus-capacity curve than the degraded cell it replaced. The Tornado 2's fuel gauge IC still references the old curve, so it misreads the new cell's actual state of charge. When the modem fires up during a call or the screen backlight peaks, current draw spikes and the cell voltage drops briefly below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the gauge still shows 25%. The phone shuts down to protect the cell. One full discharge-charge cycle forces the coulomb counter to resync to the new cell's real discharge curve and eliminates most false cutoffs.
Phone feels warm near the battery during the first few charges
A new cell starts with higher internal impedance than a broken-in one. The charge IC pushes current into higher resistance, and that energy converts to heat before the cell's impedance drops over the first few cycles. On the Tornado 2 this is normal for cycles one through three. Keep the phone out of a case during those first charges so heat can dissipate — if the rear stays below uncomfortable-to-touch, the charge IC is managing it correctly. By cycle four, impedance drops and warmth during charging should be minimal.

Frequently Asked Questions
My KAZAM Tornado 2 shuts off at around 25% after I fitted the new battery — is the cell faulty?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The phone's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old, degraded cell's discharge curve, and the new cell has a different voltage profile. Under a current spike — a call connecting, the screen at full brightness — the new cell's voltage dips briefly below the BMS cutoff even though the gauge still reads 25%. Run one full uninterrupted discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption. That single cycle forces the coulomb counter to remap to the new cell and clears most false cutoffs.
The Tornado 2 is showing erratic battery percentages — jumping from 60% straight to 40% — since I replaced the battery.
That's the fuel gauge IC losing track of charge state because it has no reference data for the new cell's discharge curve. The coulomb counter accumulated its model over hundreds of cycles on the old cell, and that model doesn't match the new cell's voltage behaviour. Drain the phone until it shuts itself off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — do this twice if the jumping persists after the first cycle. After two full cycles the gauge IC builds a working model for the new cell and percentage readings stabilise.
Fast charging stopped working on my Tornado 2 after I swapped the battery — the phone only trickle charges now.
On the first cycle after a cell replacement, the charge IC on some devices defaults to a conservative constant-current rate until it confirms the new cell's BMS is responding correctly. This is a protective measure, not a fault. Charge the phone fully using the standard charger — do not interrupt the session. Once the charge IC completes one full cycle and logs a clean BMS handshake, fast charge protocols re-enable automatically on the next charge. If trickle charging continues after two full cycles, confirm you are using the original KAZAM charger, as third-party adapters can suppress the charge-rate negotiation entirely.
