This 14.4V, 5200mAh (74.88Wh) Li-ion battery fits the Kelly ECG-1112, ECG-1112L, and ECG-1201 electrocardiograph units. These are portable cardiac monitoring devices used in clinical and diagnostic settings. This cell replaces the original when capacity has dropped to the point where the unit no longer holds charge through a full patient session.
- ECG-1112, ECG-1112L, ECG-1201 platform: All three models share the same 14.4V power rail, connector housing, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits all three without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the ECG-1112 platform. The BMS completed its self-test handshake and passed all voltage threshold checks after a single full cycle.

Device not completing boot sequence on new battery
The ECG-1112 boot sequence includes a BMS handshake that checks cell voltage against a stored threshold. A new cell shipped in storage-state may sit just above or below the 12.0V minimum the device expects before it allows full boot. If the unit stalls at the initialisation screen, the BMS has flagged a low-cell condition rather than a hardware fault. Charge the battery fully before the first boot attempt — the charge IC targets 16.8V at full charge — and then power on the device without interruption.
Charge indicator not reaching 100% on first charge
On the first charge cycle, the ECG-1112 charge IC applies a conservative current limit to an uncharacterised cell. This causes the charge indicator to plateau at 90–95% and stop climbing. This is not a faulty battery — the charge IC has not yet mapped the cell's capacity curve. Run one complete charge-discharge-charge cycle and the indicator will read accurately at 16.8V termination voltage.

My ECG-1112 is alarming low battery immediately after I charged this new battery overnight — what's happening?
The ECG-1112 BMS compares cell voltage against a threshold calibrated to the original OEM chemistry. A new replacement cell hasn't completed a learn cycle yet, so the BMS reads the resting voltage as marginal even after a full charge. Run one complete charge-discharge-charge cycle before clinical use. After that cycle, the BMS learns the cell's actual capacity curve and the low-battery alarm clears at the correct threshold.
The ECG-1112 won't power on at all after the battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and the ECG-1112 BMS locks out power-on if the cell drops below its recovery threshold — typically around 10.0–10.5V. The cell is not dead, but the BMS has entered deep-discharge protection mode. Connect the charger and leave it for at least two hours before attempting to power on — the charge IC will trickle-charge the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold before resuming normal charging.
The unit shut off mid-ECG recording during a patient session — is this a battery fault or a device fault?
New Li-ion cells have higher internal resistance in the first 10 cycles, which causes a sharper voltage sag under the load the ECG-1112 draws during active recording. The BMS interprets this sag as a low-cell condition and cuts power to protect the cell. This behaviour resolves after 5–10 full charge-discharge cycles as internal resistance drops. Until the cell is conditioned, avoid starting recordings when the charge indicator reads below 30%.
