Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo IdeaPad L340-15IRH / L340-17IRH — 11.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (5B10T04975)
This is an 11.4V, 3900mAh (44.46Wh) Li-Polymer battery for the Lenovo IdeaPad L340-15IRH, L340-17IRH, and L340 SP/B series notebooks. It replaces the original cell when charge capacity has dropped or the battery no longer holds voltage under load. OEM part numbers covered: 5B10T04975, 5B10W67350, L18M3PF1, and SB10W67407.
- L340-15IRH and L340-17IRH compatibility: Both models share the same 11.4V three-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The L340 SP/B variant uses the same board layout, so one cell fits all three without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on L340-series hardware. The BMS negotiated correctly with the Lenovo EC firmware, held stable voltage across CPU and display load spikes, and reported capacity accurately after two calibration cycles.
- First-cycle reset after install: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears on the first boot after every cell swap.
Why the L340 shuts down at 20–30% after a battery swap
The L340's fuel gauge IC retains calibration data from the old cell. When a new cell is installed, the IC maps voltage curves from the previous battery onto different chemistry characteristics. Under combined CPU and display load, the new cell hits a voltage cliff the IC wasn't expecting, and the EC interprets this as a critically low state-of-charge. Running two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles re-trains the fuel gauge IC against the actual voltage profile of the replacement cell. After those cycles, the reported percentage and the physical cutoff voltage align correctly.
BIOS showing battery health as "Poor" or "Replace Now" on a brand-new cell
Lenovo's BIOS reads health status from EEPROM data embedded in the battery's BMS board. On a new replacement cell, the EEPROM cycle count is zero and the rated Wh value may differ slightly from the original OEM figure, which some BIOS versions flag as a mismatch. This is a firmware interpretation issue, not a fault with the cell. Run the Lenovo Vantage battery gauge reset or perform one complete discharge-to-hibernate followed by a full uninterrupted charge — the BIOS health indicator typically clears to "Normal" once the learn cycle completes and the EC logs at least one full charge event.

Frequently Asked Questions
My L340 shows the battery as 0% and won't charge after I installed the new cell — what's wrong?
The Lenovo EC occasionally fails to detect a freshly installed cell if the BMS handshake wasn't completed during power-up. Shut the laptop down completely, disconnect the AC adapter, hold the power button for 10 seconds to drain residual charge from the board, then reconnect AC and power on without the battery seated first. Seat the battery with AC connected and let it sit at the charge screen for 10 minutes — the EC should register the cell and begin charging. If the indicator still reads 0%, confirm the connector is fully clicked; a half-seated connector breaks the data line the EC uses to read state-of-charge.
The fuel gauge on my L340 jumps wildly — 60% one minute, 30% the next — after fitting this battery.
The fuel gauge IC on the L340 motherboard stores a learned voltage-to-capacity curve from the old cell. When a new cell is installed, those stored curves no longer match the actual chemistry, so the reported percentage swings as the IC tries to interpolate against incorrect reference points. Run two complete cycles — discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% each time — without interrupting mid-cycle. After the second full cycle the IC recalibrates its reference table against the new cell and the gauge stabilises.
Lenovo Vantage is reporting a different Wh rating for this battery than what the original showed — is the cell wrong?
The Wh value Vantage displays is pulled from the battery's EEPROM, which stores the rated capacity programmed at the factory. Replacement cells from third-party suppliers occasionally carry a slightly different rated Wh figure in the EEPROM versus the original OEM cell, even when the physical chemistry is identical. This is a data field difference, not a capacity fault — the cell still delivers full voltage and charge cycles correctly. Cross-check against the label on the cell itself: this battery is rated 44.46Wh at 11.4V, which is the correct specification for the L340 series.
