Fits Motorola MTP700 and MTP750 radios; replaces PMNN4047, FTN6573, FTN6574, PMN4047BR, and PMR4047.
7.5V lithium-ion at 1800mAh delivers stable transmit power across a full shift without voltage sag.
Gold contact strip slides into the battery slot with a firm mechanical lock; no spring ejection on release.
We bench-tested the pack across ten full charge cycles on a standard Motorola charger dock; BMS accepted handshake on first insertion and held voltage steady under sustained PTT transmit loads.
If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — the MTP700 platform requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Motorola MTP700 / MTP750 — 7.5V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PMNN4047)

This is a 7.5V 1800mAh Li-ion battery for the Motorola MTP700 and MTP750 portable two-way radios. It replaces OEM part numbers PMNN4047, FTN6573, FTN6574, PMN4047BR, and PMR4047. If your original pack is no longer holding a charge between shifts, this is the direct swap.

  • MTP700 and MTP750 platform fit: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers both radios without any hardware change.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the MTP700 charge dock and confirmed BMS initialisation, full charge acceptance, and correct voltage output across the contact strip. The protection circuit responded correctly to charge termination at capacity.
  • First insertion into the dock: If the charger shows a fault LED on first seat, pull the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The MTP platform requires a clean contact cycle before it accepts the BMS handshake and begins charging.

MTP700 cutting out or dropping TX power mid-transmission on a new pack

During PTT, the MTP700 draws a sharp current spike to drive the RF output stage. If the battery's BMS detects this spike as an overcurrent event, it interrupts the load for a fraction of a second — long enough to drop the transmission. A new pack at storage voltage (typically around 3.7–3.8V per cell) is more vulnerable to this trip point than a fully charged pack. Charge the battery to full before the first shift and the BMS trip threshold will sit well above the transmit current spike.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting this pack

The MTP700 reads battery level using voltage thresholds, not a chip that tracks charge history. A new Li-ion cell ships at storage voltage, not full charge, so the radio registers fewer bars even though the pack is not faulty. Place the pack in the charger dock for a full charge cycle. Once the cell voltage reaches its top-of-charge level near 8.4V across the pack, the indicator will read correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MTP700 cuts out for a split second every time I press PTT — is the new battery causing this?

Yes, this is a BMS overcurrent trip triggered by the transmit current spike. The MTP700's RF output stage pulls a sharp burst of current when PTT is pressed, and a new pack at storage voltage sits closer to the BMS trip threshold. Charge the battery fully before use — at full charge the pack voltage is higher and the BMS threshold is no longer borderline. If it still cuts out after a full charge, clean the contact strip and reseat the pack.

The charger dock is showing a fault LED and never starts charging the new pack — what's happening?

The dock's fault LED means it detected a pack below its acceptance voltage window, or the BMS handshake didn't complete on first contact. Pull the battery out, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth to clear any oxidation or debris, and reseat it firmly. The Motorola dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before it will begin the charge sequence. If the fault clears, let the pack charge uninterrupted to full.

After a full shift the radio drops to noticeably weaker audio output toward the end — is that the battery?

That's voltage sag under sustained load. As the Li-ion cell depletes toward the lower end of its discharge curve, pack voltage drops and the MTP700 reduces TX power to stay within operating limits. This is normal behaviour — the radio is protecting the RF circuit, not failing. Swap in a freshly charged pack at the start of each shift and keep a spare charged to avoid mid-shift power reduction.
