Fits Nokia THR9, THR9i, and THR9+ portable radios; replaces OEM battery.
3.7V at 2300mAh delivers extended talk time and standby across professional workplace deployments.
Slides into the battery slot with standard contact alignment; no locking tab required.
We bench-tested the cell on a THR9 charger dock; BMS accepted voltage handshake on first insertion without fault light.
If the charger dock shows a fault LED after inserting this battery, remove it, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — the Nokia platform requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nokia THR9 / THR9i / THR9+ — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 2300mAh Li-ion battery for the Nokia THR9, THR9i, and THR9+ professional portable two-way radios. All three variants share the same battery bay geometry and contact arrangement, so one pack covers the full family. Capacity figures come from the product data, not third-party estimates.

  • THR9 family compatibility: The THR9, THR9i, and THR9+ run the same 3.7V battery rail and use an identical contact strip layout. No mechanical modification is needed to swap between variants — the BMS handshake protocol is consistent across all three.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through transmit and standby loads on the THR9 platform. The BMS held stable across repeated PTT events without triggering overcurrent cutoff, and the contact interface seated cleanly in the battery bay.
  • Contact strip care on first insertion: If the Nokia charging dock shows a fault LED when you first insert this pack, remove it, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The dock requires a clean contact surface to complete the BMS handshake before it will begin charging.

Why the THR9 drops to reduced TX power mid-shift on a new battery

The THR9 manages transmit power based on real-time voltage readings from the battery. A new cell shipped at storage voltage — typically around 3.6–3.7V — can sag under the sustained current draw of RF output, pushing the radio's protection circuit to throttle transmission power. This is not a fault with the pack. Running two or three full charge cycles through the dock normalises cell impedance and raises the resting voltage enough to sustain full TX power throughout a shift.

THR9 bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected on a new pack

The THR9 uses voltage-threshold bar indicators, not a fuel gauge chip. A new pack at storage voltage reads lower than a fully charged cell, so the radio displays one fewer bar even though the battery is not depleted. This is a voltage reading, not a capacity fault. Charge the pack fully in the Nokia dock — once the cell reaches its nominal 4.2V peak, the bar display will reflect the correct charge state.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Nokia THR9 cuts out completely when I press PTT — is the new battery at fault?

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead pack. The transmit current spike when PTT is pressed can exceed the BMS threshold on a cell that hasn't been cycled yet. Charge the battery fully, then key up briefly two or three times to let the BMS calibrate to the transmit load. If the cutout stops after a full charge cycle, the pack is fine.

The THR9 charging dock blinks a fault LED and never clears — what's wrong?

A new pack shipped at storage voltage can fall below the dock's acceptance threshold, causing it to reject the battery outright. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat it firmly. If the fault LED persists, leave the pack in the dock for 15 minutes — some Nokia docks apply a low-current trickle to recover cells below the acceptance voltage before switching to full charge mode.

This battery sat unused for months and the THR9 won't power on at all now — is it recoverable?

Extended storage can push a Li-ion cell below the BMS recovery threshold, locking the pack out entirely. Place it in the Nokia charging dock and leave it for at least 30 minutes without interruption — the dock's trickle stage will attempt to bring the cell back above 3.0V, which is the minimum voltage required for the BMS to re-initialise and allow the radio to power on.
