Fits Hytera PT580H and PT580H Plus radios; replaces OEM battery part numbers BL2019 and BL2505.
7.4V, 2500mAh capacity delivers full RF output power on sustained transmit cycles without voltage sag.
Connector slides straight in; locking tab seats flush against radio frame for secure seating.
We bench-tested against a PT580H dock charger; BMS accepted full charge cycle and held steady voltage under PTT load.
If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — the Hytera platform requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS handshake before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hytera PT580H / PT580H Plus — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL2019 / BL2505)

This is a 7.4V, 2500mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Hytera PT580H and PT580H Plus handheld two-way radios. It replaces OEM part numbers BL2019 and BL2505. Both radios use the same battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol.

  • PT580H and PT580H Plus fitment: Both models share an identical battery compartment, locking tab geometry, and contact strip layout. The BMS on each radio accepts the same charge-enable signal, so one pack covers both variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and discharge cycles on the PT580H platform. The BMS held the transmit-current spike at PTT press without tripping overcurrent cutoff, and the charger dock progressed to green without fault indication.
  • Contact strip condition on first dock insertion: If the charger shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The PT580H dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before it will begin charging.

PT580H bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected on a new pack

New Li-ion cells ship at storage voltage — typically around 3.7–3.8V per cell, not the 4.2V per cell peak of a full charge. The PT580H uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator, so a fresh pack at storage voltage will display fewer bars than a fully charged one. This is not a capacity defect. Charge the pack fully in the OEM or compatible dock before drawing any conclusions about its state.

Radio cuts out mid-transmission on the new BL2019 pack

Transmitting draws a sharp current spike — significantly higher than receive or standby draw — and the BMS will cut output if it reads this as an overcurrent event. This can happen if the contact strip has oxidation or debris causing a momentary resistance spike that the BMS interprets as a fault. Clean all six contact points on both the battery and the radio body with a dry cloth, reseat the pack, and confirm the lock tab clicks fully home. If cutout persists, check that the dock has brought the cell to at least 7.2V before field use.

Frequently Asked Questions

The charger dock fault LED never clears after inserting the new BL2019 — what's happening?

A fault LED that won't clear usually means the pack arrived below the dock's acceptance voltage threshold — the dock won't begin a charge cycle if it reads the cell as too far discharged. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and firmly reseat it until the lock tab clicks. If the fault LED still holds, leave the pack in the dock for 10–15 minutes; some Hytera docks require the pack to sit at the trickle-charge entry point before switching to full charge mode and clearing the LED.

The PT580H drops to noticeably weaker audio and reduced TX range mid-shift — is the new battery faulty?

This is voltage sag under sustained RF output, not a faulty cell. During extended transmissions, the radio pulls higher current than standby draw, and if the cell voltage dips under load, the radio reduces TX power to stay within its operating window. Run a full charge cycle before the next shift and avoid sustained back-to-back transmissions without a brief pause — this lets the cell voltage recover between bursts. If sag persists after a full charge, confirm the pack reached at least 8.3V at end of charge in the dock.

Battery inserted correctly but the dock never advances past the charging LED to show full — what should I check?

This points to a contact impedance issue between the pack and dock, not a dead cell. Any film or debris on the battery's contact strip adds resistance that the dock's charge controller reads as an incomplete circuit. Remove the pack, clean both the battery contacts and the dock pins with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. If the dock still won't advance to green, check that the dock itself reaches full-charge indication with a known-good pack — a dock with worn spring pins can show this symptom regardless of which battery is inserted.
