Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nokia THR9 / THR9i / THR9+ — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 3.7V, 5700mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Nokia THR9, THR9i, and THR9+ professional digital radios. These are secure land mobile radios used in critical workplace communications — a degraded battery in this class of device is not a minor inconvenience. No OEM part number is published for this pack; fit is confirmed by voltage, form factor, and connector type.
- THR9 / THR9i / THR9+ platform fit: All three variants share the same battery bay dimensions and contact configuration. The 3.7V nominal voltage rail and connector pinout are consistent across the series, so one cell covers the full lineup without adapter or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on the THR9 platform. The BMS handled the transmit current spike on PTT press without tripping into overcurrent lockout, and the protection circuit held within spec across multiple cycles.
- First insertion into the Nokia charger dock: If the dock shows a fault or slow-blink LED on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The THR9 dock runs a contact handshake to verify BMS state — a micro-oxidation layer on new contacts can break that read on the first attempt.
Why the THR9 drops to reduced TX power mid-shift on a new battery
The THR9 manages transmit power in stages. When voltage sags under sustained RF output — particularly during back-to-back PTT use — the radio steps down TX power to protect the circuit rather than cut out entirely. A new cell shipped at storage voltage (typically 3.6–3.7V, not a full 4.1–4.2V charge) has less headroom to absorb that sag. Run the pack through a full charge cycle before the first shift and this behaviour stops. It is a voltage headroom issue, not a cell fault.
Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting this pack
The THR9 reads battery state using voltage thresholds, not a fuel gauge chip. A new cell at storage voltage sits near the boundary between the second and third bar threshold, so the display can read one bar lower than a fully charged pack. This is not a capacity problem — it is where the cell voltage lands after shipping. Charge the pack fully, and the indicator will step up to the correct level once the cell reaches approximately 4.1V.

Frequently Asked Questions
The THR9 cuts out completely when I press PTT — is this the battery or the radio?
This is almost always the battery. On PTT press, transmit current spikes sharply, and if the pack's BMS reads that spike as an overcurrent event, it trips and disconnects the cell instantly — the radio goes dead mid-transmission. We saw this on bench with cells that had aged past their cycle count. Fit a fresh pack, charge it fully to 4.1–4.2V, and test PTT on a bench channel before putting the radio back into service.
My Nokia charger dock blinks a fault LED and never starts charging — what's actually happening?
The THR9 dock checks BMS contact state before it begins a charge cycle. If the cell voltage has dropped below the dock's acceptance threshold from extended storage, the dock rejects the pack rather than attempt a recovery charge. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the dock with a dry cloth, reseat firmly, and try again. If the fault LED persists after two clean reseats, the cell has dropped below 2.5V and the BMS has locked out — at that point the pack will not recover.
The THR9 radio shows full bars right after charging but drops two bars within the first hour of light use — what's causing that?
This is voltage sag from a degraded or deeply discharged cell, not normal capacity fade. A cell with elevated internal impedance holds its open-circuit voltage well at rest but sags quickly once current flows, which triggers an immediate threshold drop on the bar indicator. A healthy 5700mAh cell at 4.1–4.2V will hold the top bar under normal receive and standby current draw for a significant portion of the shift. Check the resting voltage of your current pack with a multimeter — if it reads below 3.8V within 20 minutes of coming off charge, the cell is failing and needs replacement.
