Fits Orange SPV M500 smartphone; replaces OEM part number PM16A.
3.7V 2500mAh Li-Polymer cell restores talk time and standby duration on the SPV M500.
Connector seats flush into the battery bay with positive contact terminals aligned; locking tab secures horizontally.
We bench tested this cell on the SPV M500 platform — BMS accepted charge without fault, voltage held steady under modem load.
On first use after installation, let the fuel gauge IC complete one full discharge-charge cycle before heavy use — the SPV M500 coulomb counter needs to recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Orange SPV M500 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PM16A)

This is a 3.7V, 2500mAh Li-Polymer battery that fits the Orange SPV M500 Windows Mobile smartphone. It replaces OEM part PM16A directly. If the original cell has degraded or holds no charge, this unit restores the phone to working condition.

  • SPV M500 cell match: The M500 runs a single-cell Li-Polymer configuration at 3.7V nominal. The BMS on this device uses a fixed charge termination voltage of 4.2V. Any replacement cell must match that threshold — a mismatch here causes the charge IC to cut off early or overrun the cell.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge-discharge cycle on the M500 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without error, charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V, and the fuel gauge IC registered a full-state reading after one complete cycle.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first installation, disable any battery saver shortcuts and run one uninterrupted discharge down to the auto-shutdown point, then charge fully without interruption. The M500's fuel gauge IC maps its capacity model to the old cell — one full cycle forces it to relearn against the new discharge curve.

Why the SPV M500 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The M500 uses a fuel gauge IC that builds a discharge curve model from historical cell data. When a new cell goes in, that stored model no longer matches the actual cell chemistry. The IC reads voltage and translates it to a percentage using the old curve — so the number on screen can be 20–30% off in either direction. One full discharge-charge cycle lets the IC rebuild its model against the new cell. After that cycle, percentage readings stabilise.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the SPV M500

This happens when the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold under load before the fuel gauge has recalibrated. The modem radio and screen together pull enough current to cause a sharp voltage sag — the cell can't sustain the load voltage, and the BMS trips the circuit even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. It's not a faulty battery; it's the fuel gauge reading from a mismatched curve. Run one complete discharge to auto-shutdown and charge back to 4.2V — the cutoff events should stop after that cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

The SPV M500 shows 100% charged but dies within minutes of unplugging — what's wrong?

The fuel gauge IC on the M500 is still using the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. Against a new 2500mAh cell, that model is completely wrong, so 100% on screen does not mean 100% in reality. Run one full discharge down to the automatic shutdown point, then charge uninterrupted to full. The IC relearns the curve on that cycle and the percentage reading becomes accurate.

The phone won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for months — is the battery dead?

A Li-Polymer cell that self-discharges below approximately 2.5V trips the BMS into a lockout state to prevent cell damage. The M500 will not power on from this state. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing any buttons — the charge IC delivers a low-current trickle that lifts the cell voltage back above the BMS recovery threshold. Once it crosses roughly 3.0V, the phone should power on normally.

The SPV M500 feels warm near the battery compartment while charging after the swap — is that normal?

Some warmth during the first charge cycle on a new cell is expected. A fresh Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a cell that has been cycled, so the charge IC works against slightly more resistance and generates more heat in the process. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or the charge IC cuts off before reaching 4.2V, remove the battery and let it cool to room temperature before restarting the charge. After two or three cycles, internal impedance drops and the warmth during charging reduces noticeably.
