Fits Philips CPJ-810, CPJ-815, CPK-834, and CPK-855 cameras; replaces AR8378BK01, AR8395BK01, V80039BK01, and V80086BK01 battery packs.
12V, 1800mAh Ni-MH cell delivers 21.6Wh for full shot sequence on these compact camera bodies without midshoot power loss.
Connector slides straight into camera battery slot with locking tab securing from top; no adapter needed on any compatible Philips model.
We tested this cell on a CPJ-810 body — BMS accepted the pack on first insert, voltage held steady through a full discharge cycle.
On first use with these Philips cameras, run one complete charge cycle inside the camera body itself before heavy shooting — the battery fuel gauge needs one full discharge to map accurately to this cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Philips CPJ-810 / CPJ-815 / CPK-834 Series — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (AR8378BK01)

This is a 12V, 1800mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Philips CPJ-810, CPJ-815, CPK-834, CPK-855, and related camera models. It replaces OEM part numbers AR8378BK01, AR8395BK01, V80039BK01, and V80086BK01 among others. Capacity is rated at 21.6Wh, matching the original cell specification.

  • CPJ and CPK platform compatibility: These Philips camera models share the same 12V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single cell format covers the full CPJ-810 through CPK-855 range because Philips standardised the battery interface across that generation.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a camera body, confirming the BMS accepted the replacement without flagging an incompatible cell error. Voltage delivery stayed within tolerance across the full discharge curve.
  • First-install charge cycle for Ni-MH cells: Ni-MH chemistry in camera bodies benefits from running the initial charge through the OEM charger or camera body itself — not a generic charger. This allows the BMS to map the cell's discharge curve and return an accurate battery-remaining reading during shooting.

Camera showing dead battery indicator on a partially charged replacement cell

Philips CPJ and CPK bodies use a voltage-threshold method to estimate remaining charge. A new Ni-MH cell has a flatter discharge curve than a worn original, so the camera's indicator can misread state-of-charge early on. The BMS maps thresholds against a stored discharge profile, and a fresh cell doesn't match that stored curve until it's been cycled once. Run one full charge-to-discharge cycle through the camera body, then recharge fully. After that cycle, the indicator reading stabilises to within a normal range.

Flash not fully recycling between shots on a new Ni-MH cell

Flash recycle relies on the battery sustaining current delivery while the capacitor recharges. At the tail end of a discharge cycle, internal resistance in Ni-MH cells rises, and capacitor recharge time increases noticeably. If recycle lag appears earlier than expected, check the cell's resting voltage — it should read above 10.8V under no load to confirm sufficient charge remains. Recharge before the cell drops below that threshold to avoid repeated capacitor recharge lag mid-shoot.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Philips CPJ-810 shows "no battery" with the new cell installed — is the replacement faulty?

This is a BMS authentication check, not a cell fault. The camera body checks the incoming cell against a stored profile on first contact, and a new Ni-MH replacement won't have completed a recognised charge cycle yet. Place the battery in the OEM charger or camera body and run one full charge cycle from flat to full. After that cycle, power the camera on — the "no battery" flag clears in most cases.

The battery percentage on my CPJ-815 jumps from 80% straight to 20% — what's causing that?

The CPJ and CPK bodies map remaining capacity using fixed voltage thresholds. A new Ni-MH cell discharges along a flatter voltage curve than a degraded original, so the body misreads the state-of-charge at certain points in the discharge. The percentage jump happens where the camera's threshold table expects a voltage drop that the new cell hasn't yet reached. Run two full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body and the display will track the actual discharge curve more accurately.

Shot count is lower than expected when shooting with flash — is the 1800mAh capacity wrong?

The rated capacity reflects storage energy under a standard discharge load. Flash photography adds a high-current capacitor recharge demand on top of the sensor, processor, and autofocus draw — none of those loads appear in a basic capacity rating. Shot count with flash enabled will always fall short of shot count in continuous video or still-only modes. To extend shooting time, switch flash to manual power level and reduce it where the scene allows — this cuts capacitor recharge current significantly.
