Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Promax Neo 2 / Neo 3 / Neo 4 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CB-084)
This is a 7.4V, 13000mAh (96.2Wh) lithium-ion battery for the Promax Neo 2, Neo 3, Neo 4, and Neo 2 ATSC series of professional field instruments. These are signal analysis and surveying platforms used in broadcast, cable, and infrastructure assessment. This replacement uses OEM part number CB-084.
- Neo 2 / Neo 3 / Neo 4 compatibility: These models share the same 7.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — a single pack covers all four variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through probe module initialisation and sustained RF signal acquisition loads. The BMS held voltage rail stability and did not trip under the current spike at sensor power-up.
- First-deployment calibration step: After installing, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before heading to site. The Neo series maps battery state during calibration — skip this and the instrument will flag premature low-battery warnings on your first measurement session.
BMS cutoff when the probe module initialises on first power-up
When the Neo 2 or Neo 3 powers on and the probe module initialises, there is a brief current spike as the internal RF front-end draws load simultaneously. A new pack with a conservative BMS threshold can interpret this spike as a fault and cut output. This is not a defective battery — it is a protection circuit responding to inrush current. If this occurs, power the instrument off, wait 10 seconds, and restart; after one or two cycles the BMS learns the load profile and stops tripping.
Pack will not charge after the instrument sat unused for several months
Extended storage below approximately 2.5V per cell pushes the BMS into deep-sleep lockout — the charger sees no handshake and refuses to deliver current. Connect the pack to the Neo's original charger and leave it for 30–45 minutes without interrupting the connection; most chargers on this platform apply a low-current recovery pulse before switching to full charge. If the charge LED does not activate after 45 minutes, the cells have dropped below recoverable voltage and the pack should be replaced.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Neo 3 shuts down mid-measurement even though the battery indicator was showing over half charge — what's happening?
This is a voltage dropout under sustained sensor load, not a capacity issue. When the instrument runs continuous RF acquisition or extended logging, the current draw causes cell voltage to sag below the BMS cutoff threshold before the display percentage catches up. The percentage indicator on these instruments is voltage-threshold based and recalibrates slowly to a new cell. Run the instrument's battery calibration cycle from the settings menu — this re-maps the low-voltage cutoff to the actual cell behaviour and stops premature shutdowns.
The Neo 2 cuts power every time I start a USB data transfer to a laptop — is the battery faulty?
It is not faulty. USB data transfer adds a second simultaneous load on top of whatever the display and active modules are already drawing. If the combined draw pushes cell voltage below the BMS trip point, the instrument shuts off to protect the cells. Reduce background load before transferring — close active measurement sessions, dim the display, and disable any probe modules not in use. This drops total draw enough that the BMS stays above its cutoff threshold during the transfer.
Readings on the Neo 4 reset or log a gap mid-session without the instrument fully powering off — what causes this?
A brief voltage dropout under sustained sensor load can cause the instrument's internal logic to reset without triggering a full shutdown — the display recovers in seconds but the logging session records a gap. This happens when cell voltage dips below the logic-rail threshold but recovers before the BMS completes a full cutoff. Check that the battery contacts in the bay are clean and seated firmly; a high-resistance contact amplifies the voltage drop under load. If gaps persist after cleaning the contacts, charge the pack fully to 8.4V and re-run the calibration cycle before the next session.
