Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung NBE60 / NC240 Series — 6V Ni-MH 4200mAh Replacement Battery

This is a 6V, 4200mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Samsung digital cameras including the NBE60, NC240, SCA12, and SCA20, plus over 60 additional compatible models. It restores full power to the camera body for image capture and processing. Voltage and capacity match the original Samsung specification exactly.

  • NBE60 and NC240 platform fit: These models share the same 6V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — that's why one cell covers the full range. Swapping between models in this family requires no adapter or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge and discharge sequence on compatible Samsung camera hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without an authentication error, and the charge-remaining indicator tracked correctly after one complete charge cycle via the OEM charger.
  • First-install charge cycle: Some Samsung camera bodies require the new cell to be charged from within the camera body — not just a standalone charger — before the battery-remaining display reads accurately. Run one full charge cycle inside the camera before your first shoot.

Camera showing dead battery indicator on a partially charged replacement cell

Ni-MH cells ship in a partially discharged state. The Samsung camera BMS maps its battery-remaining display against a voltage-threshold curve it learned from the previous cell. A new cell with a different resting voltage can trigger a false low-battery warning on first boot. Run one full charge-to-discharge cycle inside the camera body. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates its threshold mapping to the new cell's discharge curve.

Battery percentage jumping erratically during a shooting session

This happens when the camera's fuel gauge is reading voltage steps that don't match the discharge curve it expects. Ni-MH cells have a flatter discharge curve than Li-ion, and Samsung's indicator algorithm can misread voltage plateaus as sudden drops. The fix is a full conditioning cycle — charge to 100% in the camera body, shoot until the camera shuts down on low battery, then recharge fully. After two cycles, the percentage display stabilises and tracks the actual remaining capacity correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Samsung NC240 shows "no battery" or an incompatible battery warning when I insert the new cell — what's causing that?

Samsung camera bodies run a BMS authentication check on first install, and a new Ni-MH cell at partial charge can fail that check. Power the camera off completely, reinsert the battery, then charge it fully inside the camera body using the OEM charger. One complete in-body charge cycle is usually enough for the camera to accept the cell — after that, the warning clears on every subsequent boot.

My shot count is much lower than expected even though the battery shows full — what's draining it faster than rated?

Shot count ratings are measured under controlled conditions with flash disabled, stabilisation off, and minimal EVF use. In real shooting, continuous autofocus, image stabilisation, an active LCD or EVF, and flash recycling all add draw on top of the base spec. A shoot with flash firing every frame and video clips mixed in can pull two to three times the current of a still-only test sequence. Reduce EVF brightness and disable stabilisation for static shots to extend your charge between swaps.

The flash on my Samsung SCA20 is taking longer to recycle between shots than it did with the original battery — is the new cell at fault?

Flash recycling speed depends on how fast the capacitor recharge circuit can pull current from the battery. At the tail end of a Ni-MH discharge cycle, cell voltage sags and the recharge current to the capacitor drops — recycling time stretches noticeably. If this is happening early in a charge cycle, condition the cell first: charge fully, discharge through normal use until the camera shuts down, then recharge fully. Check the resting voltage before a shoot — it should read at or above 5.8V on a freshly charged cell.
