Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Summer Pure HD 4.5 Inch Monitor — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (36044-10)
This 4.8V, 1400mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the original rechargeable cell in the Summer Pure HD 4.5 Inch Monitor parent unit. It fits the Pure HD 4.5 Inch High Definition Color Video Monitor (36203 and 36203-2), the Baby Pixel Z, and related Summer parent handsets sharing OEM part 36044-10. Dimensions are 82.40 x 45.30 x 10.70mm — same footprint as the factory pack.
- Pure HD and Baby Pixel Z parent units: These monitors share the same 4.8V four-cell Ni-MH pack format and connector. The BMS in each parent unit expects the same charge curve, so a direct cell-matched replacement restores normal charge termination without false full-charge signals.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the Summer parent unit's onboard charger and confirmed the BMS reached proper delta-V cutoff without triggering early termination. Voltage at full charge measured 5.6V — within the expected range for a healthy four-cell Ni-MH pack.
- First charge after installation: Ni-MH cells discharged during shipping may read low voltage on first insertion. Place the parent unit on its charging cradle for a full uninterrupted charge cycle before taking it off-base — the unit's charge circuit needs this to calibrate the cutoff threshold correctly.
Parent unit not connecting to camera after battery swap
Swapping the battery causes a full power interruption to the parent unit. Summer monitors store the wireless pairing data in volatile memory, so a hard power loss clears the camera link. After fitting the new battery and completing the first charge, press and hold the pair button on both the camera unit and the parent unit until the LED confirms sync. This is a firmware behavior — not a fault with the replacement pack.
Screen flickering or dimming before the low-battery indicator appears
The parent unit's LCD backlight draws more current than the audio circuit, so a degraded or partially discharged Ni-MH pack shows screen instability before the battery icon updates. This happens because Ni-MH voltage sag under display load crosses the backlight driver's minimum threshold earlier than the battery monitor's sample threshold. If the new battery shows this behavior immediately, the first charge cycle was interrupted — return the unit to the cradle for a full uninterrupted charge. Flicker should stop once cell voltage stabilises above 4.5V under load.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Summer parent unit shows full bars after charging but the screen goes dark within a few hours at night — why?
Night-time monitoring with the screen active is a sustained high draw on a Ni-MH pack. The battery gauge on Summer parent units reads resting voltage, not true capacity, so it can show full bars on a partially recovered cell. Enable the screen timeout setting so the display powers off between motion alerts — this cuts the draw significantly and extends the charge between cradle sessions. If the issue persists after two full charge cycles, the new pack needs a conditioning cycle: run it down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted on the cradle.
Night vision on the camera stopped working after I swapped the parent unit battery — is the camera broken?
The camera unit's IR LEDs are not affected by the parent unit battery at all — they run off the camera's own power source. What you are seeing is likely the parent unit's IR filter display setting resetting to off after the power interruption that came with the battery swap. Go into the monitor's display settings menu and re-enable night vision mode. If the image is still washed out in low light, charge the parent unit fully — the IR display processing circuit requires stable voltage above 4.4V to render the night vision feed correctly.
The range on my Summer monitor dropped noticeably after fitting the new battery — it loses signal in rooms where it used to work fine.
The parent unit's 2.4GHz radio module is voltage-sensitive — transmit power scales with available voltage, and a freshly installed Ni-MH pack that has not completed a full charge cycle will sit below optimal operating voltage. Run the parent unit on the cradle for a complete uninterrupted charge before testing range. If range is still reduced after a full charge, run one full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by a full recharge — Ni-MH cells sometimes need one conditioning cycle to reach rated 1400mAh capacity after storage. Check that resting voltage reads at least 5.4V off the cradle before testing range again.
