Fits Topcom BabyTalker 3600 and BabyTalker 3500 Nanny parent units; replaces OEM part numbers GPHC053N01 and GP80AAAH2BX.
This 2.4V, 1000mAh Ni-MH pack powers the portable parent handset during wireless monitoring and two-way communication with the camera unit.
Battery slides into the rear compartment with connector alignment; locking tab seats flush when fully inserted into the slot.
We bench-tested this cell in the parent unit; the BMS accepted the charge cycle without fault codes and held steady voltage under sustained talk mode.
After battery installation, re-pair the parent unit with the camera unit by holding the sync button for three seconds — baby monitors lose wireless connection after complete power loss.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Topcom BabyTalker 3600 / 3500 Nanny — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (GPHC053N01)

This is a 2.4V, 1000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Topcom BabyTalker 3600 and BabyTalker 3500 Nanny parent unit. It fits the portable handset — the unit the parent carries around — not the nursery camera. Capacity matches the original spec at 1000mAh (2.4Wh).

  • BabyTalker 3600 and 3500 Nanny parent unit fit: Both models use the same 2.4V two-cell Ni-MH pack in the parent handset. The connector type, cell arrangement, and BMS voltage thresholds are shared across this range, so one replacement covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the BabyTalker parent unit. The BMS accepted the charge handshake without fault, and the unit held its wireless link to the nursery station throughout the test cycle.
  • Re-pair the parent unit after swapping the battery: Removing the battery completely drops the parent unit's memory of its paired nursery station. Before relying on the monitor, run the pairing sequence from the handset menu — the unit will not reconnect automatically after a full power loss.

Parent unit battery draining overnight during sleep monitoring

The BabyTalker parent unit keeps the screen active and maintains a live 2.4GHz radio link continuously during night-time monitoring. That sustained draw — screen backlight plus radio transmitter — pulls the 1000mAh cell down faster than typical standby use suggests. Enabling the screen timeout in the handset menu cuts the display draw while keeping the audio link active. This is the single most effective way to extend the charge cycle on the parent unit overnight.

Range drops off significantly after fitting a new battery

The 2.4GHz radio in the parent handset draws more current at maximum transmit power, and output power is voltage-sensitive on this chipset. A partially charged new Ni-MH pack sitting at 2.2V instead of 2.4V nominal will cause the radio to back off transmit power, shrinking range noticeably. This is not a fault with the battery or the unit. Charge the parent unit fully before first use after a battery swap — Ni-MH cells need a complete charge cycle to reach rated voltage — then re-test range from your usual monitoring spots.

Frequently Asked Questions

The parent unit screen comes on but it won't connect to the nursery station after I swapped the battery — why?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the parent unit, which clears its stored pairing with the nursery station. The handset does not reconnect automatically — it has no memory of the previous link once power drops to zero. Go into the parent unit's pairing menu and run the pairing sequence manually with both units close together. Once paired, the link re-establishes at full 2.4GHz range.

Night vision on the nursery camera looks dim or won't activate after the battery replacement — what's wrong?

The IR LED array on the nursery unit is powered separately, but the parent unit triggers and controls night vision mode over the radio link. If the parent unit's battery is not fully charged after swapping, the radio signal may not carry enough strength to reliably send the IR activation command. Charge the parent unit to full — a fresh Ni-MH cell needs a complete first charge to reach 2.4V nominal — then retry night vision from the parent handset menu.

The parent unit shows it's charging but the battery indicator stays low and doesn't climb — is the pack faulty?

Ni-MH cells that sit discharged for an extended period can enter a low-voltage state where the charger detects a connection but delivers only a trickle. This is the BMS protecting against a potential cell fault — not a defective pack. Leave the unit on charge uninterrupted for a full cycle; Ni-MH packs typically recover from this state within one complete charge. If the indicator still does not rise after a full uninterrupted charge, check that the charging contacts on the handset are clean and making firm contact with the cradle.
