Fits Datalogic Powerscan 4220, C45, Falcon 4220, Falcon 4223; replaces OEM part 95A201001.
3.7V, 1800mAh cell delivers full scan and wireless radio draw without mid-shift voltage sag.
Slides into battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab seats flush against scanner housing.
We cycled this cell through 50 rapid-fire scan bursts with wireless polling active; BMS held stable without early cutoff events.
Place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before field use — the scan trigger draws peak inrush current when the cell is near minimum and a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS trips on first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Datalogic Falcon 4220 / 4223 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (95A201001)

This 3.7V, 1800mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Datalogic Falcon 4220 and Falcon 4223 handheld barcode scanners, as well as the C45 model. It matches OEM part number 95A201001 and fits directly into the existing battery compartment without modification.

  • Falcon 4220, 4223, and C45 compatibility: These models share the same 3.7V battery rail, physical footprint, and connector orientation. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across the group, so one cell revision covers all three without reflashing or adapter cables.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the Falcon 4220 platform. The BMS held protection thresholds correctly, and the cell voltage stayed stable through repeated scan-trigger inrush events without tripping an overcurrent cutoff.
  • First-shift preparation for pick-and-pack environments: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before putting it into rotation. Scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum charge — a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS trips at the start of the first shift.

Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack

Charging docks on the Falcon series read contact resistance at the battery terminals before allowing current flow. If the dock returns an error on a fresh pack, the most likely cause is oxidation or contamination on the battery's gold contacts. Wipe both the pack contacts and the cradle pins with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly. The dock should acknowledge the pack within 30 seconds and begin charging normally.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

The Falcon 4220 draws from the same cell for both the radio transmitter and the scan trigger simultaneously. During rapid back-to-back scans, that combined inrush load can push a weakened or partially charged cell below the radio module's minimum supply voltage, dropping the wireless link. The scanner may re-associate automatically, but repeated drops mid-shift point to a cell that can no longer sustain combined peak draw. Charge the replacement pack fully before use and verify resting voltage reads at least 3.9V before deploying on the floor.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Falcon 4220 won't read barcodes after I put in the new battery — the laser or imager barely activates. What's wrong?

The scan module needs a minimum supply voltage to fire at full power. If the replacement pack shipped partially discharged, the cell may not be delivering enough voltage to drive the imager or laser correctly. Seat the scanner in the cradle and run a full charge cycle before your first scan session. Once the pack reaches 4.1–4.2V resting voltage, the imager should activate at full intensity.

The scanner runs noticeably warm after a few hours of continuous scanning. Is that a battery issue?

Sustained warmth in the Falcon 4220 housing comes from simultaneous wireless polling and repeated scan-trigger draw — both loads run through the same cell. At high scan frequencies, current draw is nearly continuous, and the cell and radio module both generate heat in an enclosed plastic body. The battery itself is not faulty if warmth is moderate and consistent. If the housing becomes hot to the touch or the scanner shuts off mid-shift, check that the BMS hasn't tripped a thermal cutoff — remove the pack, let it cool for five minutes, then reinstall.

My new battery drains faster than expected even though scan volume hasn't changed. Could it be a charging cycle issue?

Li-ion cells ship at a partial state of charge and need at least one full charge-to-discharge cycle to reach rated capacity. If the pack was put straight into use from the box without a full cradle charge, the BMS may have calibrated its capacity estimate low. Run two full charge cycles — charge until the cradle indicator goes green, then use the scanner through a normal shift — and capacity will normalise to the rated 1800mAh.
