Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Intermec 600 Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (L103450-1INS)
This 3.7V, 2300mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the factory pack in the Intermec 600, 601, 602, and 603 barcode scanners. These handheld scanners are common in warehouse pick-and-pack, retail stockrooms, and logistics operations. Swap this pack in when the original cell no longer holds enough charge to complete a shift.
- 600 series compatibility: The 600, 601, 602, and 603 share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one pack covers the full range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-and-transmit loads on the 603. The BMS handled combined laser trigger and wireless radio draw without tripping on inrush, and the protection circuit responded correctly to full depletion before cutting off.
- First-shift preparation: After installing, seat the scanner in its charging cradle and run a full charge cycle before starting a pick run. Scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum — a fully charged pack prevents false BMS trips during the first heavy scan burst of the day.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
Charging docks on the 600 series read contact resistance as part of the charge handshake. If the dock contacts or the battery terminals have any oxide buildup or residue, the dock flags an error rather than starting the charge cycle. Wipe the four gold contacts on the battery face and the matching pins in the cradle with a dry cloth. Reseat the scanner firmly — the charge indicator should switch from error to active within a few seconds.
Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The 600 series fires the scan engine and the wireless radio simultaneously during a fast barcode capture sequence. That combined inrush pulls the cell voltage down briefly, and if the pack is weak or partially discharged, the voltage sag crosses the BMS cutoff threshold and the radio drops. The scanner may re-associate automatically, but the connection loss interrupts the data transmission mid-burst. Keep the pack above half charge during high-frequency scanning runs and confirm the resting cell voltage is at or above 3.6V before a full shift.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Intermec 603 stopped reading barcodes right after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?
The laser or imager in the 600 series needs a minimum voltage to fire reliably, and a freshly installed pack that hasn't been fully charged may dip below that threshold on the first trigger pull. Place the scanner in its cradle and charge it completely before attempting any scanning. We saw the same behaviour on the bench — the BMS showed the pack as live, but cell voltage under load was still below 3.6V. A full charge cycle before use clears it.
The scanner runs warm after a long warehouse shift — is that a battery fault?
Sustained back-to-back scanning combined with continuous wireless polling generates steady current draw through a compact Li-Polymer cell inside an enclosed plastic housing. Heat buildup over a long shift is a normal consequence of that load combination — not a fault in the pack. If the housing becomes hot to the touch rather than just warm, check that the battery contacts are fully seated, as a poor connection increases resistance and adds heat. Rotate the scanner to a spare pack at mid-shift in high-volume operations to keep cell temperature in range.
The new battery shows full on the charge indicator but the scanner shuts down partway through a shift — why?
A charge indicator on the 600 series reads voltage, not actual cell capacity — a new pack can display full while the cell voltage under scan-and-transmit load sags quickly if the battery has been stored deeply discharged for an extended period. Li-Polymer cells that sit below 3.0V for long periods lose recoverable capacity. Run two or three full charge-to-depletion cycles in normal use; if the scanner still shuts down early, check resting voltage with the scanner powered off — it should read at or above 3.7V after a completed charge.
