Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AEE S50 / S51 / D33 / S71 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 3.7V 1500mAh Li-ion replacement cell for the AEE S50, S51, D33, and S71 action cameras, plus six additional compatible models in the same platform. The S50 and its siblings are compact rugged cameras used for underwater and extreme-activity recording where battery swaps extend continuous shoot time. Voltage and cell format match the original specification directly.
- S50 / S51 / D33 / S71 platform fit: These models share a common battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and 3.7V single-cell power rail. The BMS in each body expects the same charge termination voltage and communication handshake, so one cell works across the platform without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell in an S50 body through full charge and discharge sequences. The BMS accepted the cell, charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V, and discharge cutoff held at the expected low-voltage threshold without forced shutdown errors.
- Waterproof housing thermal note: When shooting inside a sealed dive housing, heat from the sensor and processor has no airflow path out. Keep recording sessions to the intervals AEE specifies for sealed-housing use — sustained heat in a closed enclosure accelerates cell ageing faster than open-air shooting.
AEE S50 showing dead battery indicator on a partially charged replacement cell
The S50 maps its battery indicator to voltage thresholds calibrated against a known cell discharge curve. A new replacement cell with a different internal impedance can read as empty even when it holds a usable charge. This happens because the body samples terminal voltage under load — a cell the BMS hasn't profiled yet can sag below the threshold on first draw. Run one full charge cycle through the camera body or OEM charger before shooting, and the indicator will stabilise.
Battery percentage jumping erratically on the S50 display mid-session
Erratic percentage readings are a voltage-threshold mapping issue, not a faulty cell. The camera's fuel gauge interpolates remaining capacity from voltage steps that were tuned to the original cell's discharge curve. A replacement cell with a slightly flatter or steeper curve will cause the indicator to jump between steps non-linearly. Charge the replacement fully via the camera body, complete one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then recharge — this gives the BMS enough data to map the new cell's curve accurately.

Frequently Asked Questions
My AEE S50 shows "no battery" or won't power on after I fit the replacement — is the cell dead?
This is a BMS authentication behaviour, not a dead cell. The S50 checks the cell on first insertion and can reject an unprofiled battery before it draws any current. Fit the cell, connect the camera to its OEM charger, and let it complete a full charge cycle without interrupting it. After that charge cycle, the body will power on and hold the cell as recognised.
Shot count on my S50 is noticeably lower than I expected from a 1500mAh cell — why?
Shot count drops when the camera runs features beyond basic shutter actuation. On the S50, continuous video recording, image stabilisation processing, and the rear display all draw simultaneously — that combined load is heavier than the single-frame draw the rated capacity is benchmarked against. Cold conditions tighten this further because Li-ion cells lose available capacity below 10°C. Reduce display-on time between shots and keep the camera body warm between uses to recover capacity in cold environments.
The replacement cell in my AEE S50 feels warm after charging — is that normal?
Mild warmth at the end of a charge cycle is normal for Li-ion cells as the BMS trickle-charges to 4.2V. What isn't normal is heat that persists more than a few minutes after the charger disconnects, or a cell that feels hot to the touch mid-charge. If the cell runs hot during charge, remove it and check that the charger output is rated for 3.7V Li-ion — using an unmatched charger voltage will stress the cell and shorten its life. Charge should terminate cleanly at 4.2V with no sustained heat after disconnection.
