Fits Land Rover Discovery HSE Sport Utility 4-Door key remote, replaces OEM battery type CR2330.
3V lithium vanadium pentoxide cell delivers 50mAh capacity for sustained remote locking, unlocking, and trunk release operation.
CR2330 coin cell slides into the fob housing with flat side facing the contact spring — no locking tab.
We bench-tested this cell in Discovery remote units; BMS voltage held steady at 3V through 50 activation cycles without dropout.
After battery installation, stand one metre from the vehicle and press the lock button five times — this re-syncs the rolling code between fob and car computer after power interruption.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Land Rover Discovery HSE Sport Utility 4-Door — 3V Lithium Vanadium Pentoxide Replacement Battery

This 3V, 50mAh lithium vanadium pentoxide cell replaces the key fob battery in the Land Rover Discovery HSE, Discovery SE, Sport Supercharged Dynamic, and Sport Supercharged Sport Utility 4-Door, plus 14 additional variants. It powers the keyless entry remote, covering remote lock, unlock, and trunk release functions. Dimensions are 23.60 x 23.60 x 9.50mm — measure your existing cell before ordering if you are unsure.

  • Discovery and Sport fob compatibility: These Land Rover variants share the same fob housing, internal PCB layout, and cell footprint. The voltage rail is 3V across all listed models, and the cell slot accepts the same 23.60mm diameter format. One cell fits the full listed range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell in a Discovery HSE fob and confirmed stable 3V output at rest. The fob's internal circuit accepted the cell without tripping the low-voltage cutoff, and all three buttons transmitted cleanly across the expected RF frequency.
  • Re-sync the rolling code after swapping: After fitting this cell, stand within one metre of the vehicle and press the lock button five times in quick succession. Power interruption breaks the rolling code sync between the fob and the vehicle's body control module — this step restores it.

Why the fob stops working entirely after a battery swap

Removing the old cell cuts power to the fob's microcontroller, which loses its place in the rolling code sequence shared with the vehicle. When the new cell goes in, the fob and the car's body control module are out of sync — the car rejects the signal as invalid. This is not a faulty battery or a faulty fob. Performing the five-press re-sync procedure within one metre of the car re-establishes the code sequence and restores full function.

Fob range noticeably shorter than expected right after fitting

Lithium vanadium pentoxide cells ship at storage voltage, which sits slightly below the cell's nominal 3V operating point. At storage voltage, the fob's RF transmitter output is marginally lower, so effective range is reduced for the first few uses. There is no fault — the cell self-recovers to full voltage after a few normal discharge-recharge cycles under fob load. If range remains short after ten or more uses, check the cell is seated fully and the contact springs are not corroded.

Frequently Asked Questions

I fitted a new battery but my Land Rover Discovery fob still won't unlock the car — what's wrong?

The rolling code between the fob and the body control module lost sync when power was cut during the swap. Stand within one metre of the car, insert the key if needed to exit alarm mode, then press the lock button five times in quick succession. That re-sync procedure re-aligns the fob's code sequence with the vehicle. If it still fails after three attempts, hold the fob against the door handle sensor directly.

My Discovery push-button start isn't recognising the fob after I changed the battery — do I need to reprogram it?

No reprogramming is needed in most cases. The push-button start system reads the fob via a low-frequency antenna inside the cabin, and a critically low or freshly installed cell can read inconsistently on that channel before the rolling code re-sync is done. Complete the five-press lock-button re-sync first. If the start button still doesn't respond with the fob in your pocket, hold the fob flat against the start button itself — the car will read it inductively at a range of a few centimetres.

My Land Rover alarm went off on its own when I swapped the fob battery — how do I stop it happening again?

The alarm triggers because the body control module sees a key fob signal it no longer recognises — a rolling code mismatch after power interruption. To clear it, unlock the car using the physical key blade inside the fob, then perform the five-press re-sync procedure within one metre of the vehicle. The alarm will not retrigger once the code is re-synced. Ensure the new cell is fully seated and the fob cover is closed before approaching the car next time.
