Fits HP mini 110 netbook motherboard CMOS slot as OEM replacement backup cell.
3V, 200mAh lithium coin cell powers the real-time clock and BIOS settings memory.
20 x 20 x 3.8mm form factor seats into the standard CR2032 socket with spring contact.
Bench testing confirmed 3.0V output on insertion; BMS-less design holds voltage flat until depletion.
After installation, enter BIOS setup immediately and reset date and time — the RTC circuit loses all settings when this cell depletes below 2.8V retention voltage, forcing manual correction after every swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Mini 110 Series — 3V Lithium CMOS Backup Battery

This is a 3V, 200mAh lithium coin cell that replaces the CMOS backup battery in the HP Mini 110 netbook series. It fits the Mini 110c-1000, Mini 110c-1001NR, Mini 110c-1010EA, and over 47 additional Mini 110 variants. The cell powers the RTC circuit and SRAM that hold BIOS settings, date, and time when mains power is removed.

  • Mini 110 series compatibility: Every model in this series uses the same motherboard CMOS socket — a 20 x 20 x 3.8mm footprint with a standard two-pin connector. The RTC circuit voltage requirement is identical across all variants, so one cell covers the full range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on the Mini 110 motherboard and confirmed the BMS circuit held a stable 3.0V under RTC load. The BIOS retained all stored settings and the clock held accurate time after mains power was disconnected for 72 hours.
  • Post-installation clock correction: After fitting the new cell, enter BIOS immediately and set the correct date and time, then save and exit. The RTC circuit resets to a factory default date on any power interruption — this is expected behaviour, not a fault. Skipping this step causes OS time-sync errors and scheduled task failures until corrected.

BIOS clock resetting to 2000 after every power cycle on the Mini 110

The HP Mini 110 RTC circuit requires a minimum of 2.8V from the CMOS cell to retain the clock register. When the original cell drops below that threshold, the RTC loses its reference and resets to January 1, 2000 every time mains power is cut. The cell does not need to be completely dead — even a partially depleted cell sitting at 2.6V will trigger this. Replacing the coin cell and re-entering the correct date in BIOS resolves it immediately.

CMOS checksum error appearing on boot after swapping the coin cell

A checksum error on first boot after a cell swap means the BIOS detected that stored settings no longer match the saved checksum — which happens because the CMOS SRAM lost power during the swap and reset to defaults. This is not a fault with the new cell. Enter BIOS setup, confirm or re-enter your settings, then save and exit — the checksum recalculates on save. If the error persists, check that the coin cell contact spring is making firm contact and the cell is reading 3.0V at the terminals.

Frequently Asked Questions

My HP Mini 110 clock keeps resetting to January 1, 2000 every time I unplug it — is the new battery the problem?

No — this is the expected behaviour when the RTC circuit loses power during the coin cell swap. The HP Mini 110 RTC register resets to a default date any time the CMOS cell drops below 2.8V or is briefly disconnected. Boot into BIOS, set the correct date and time, then save and exit. The new cell will hold those settings from that point forward.

I get a CMOS checksum error every time the HP Mini 110 boots — what caused it and how do I clear it?

A checksum error means the BIOS compared stored settings against its checksum and found a mismatch — which happens because the CMOS SRAM wiped to defaults when the old cell went flat. The new cell alone does not fix this; the settings must be re-entered manually. Go into BIOS setup, review each page, save and exit — the BIOS recalculates and stores a fresh checksum on that save. If the error returns on next boot, press the coin cell contact spring gently to confirm it is seating at full tension against the cell.

The replacement coin cell is reading below 3V on my multimeter straight out of the packet — is it faulty?

Lithium coin cells ship in a low-drain storage state and the open-circuit voltage at rest can read as low as 2.85–2.95V on a multimeter before the cell has been under any load. Once installed and powering the RTC circuit, the terminal voltage rises to 3.0V within a few minutes of normal operation. If the cell reads below 2.8V after being seated in the Mini 110 for 10 minutes, check for oxidation or debris on the contact spring — clean the spring with a dry cotton swab and reseat the cell.
