Fits Again and Again STB236 cordless phone handsets replacing the original 3.6V Ni-MH battery pack.
3.6V, 250mAh capacity delivers the voltage and charge storage your DECT handset requires for standard talk and standby cycles.
Connector slides into the battery slot on the handset bottom with a single locking tab; orient the contacts toward the spring.
We bench-tested this cell in a DECT base charger and confirmed the BMS accepts the voltage threshold without error codes on insertion.
Place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless phone batteries require slow initial charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Again and Again STB236 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 250mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for cordless phones using the STB236 battery designation. It restores full handset operation when the original pack can no longer hold a charge. Physical dimensions are 50.03 x 25.78 x 17.99mm — confirm these against your existing battery before ordering.

  • STB236 handset compatibility: Cordless phone handsets sharing the STB236 designation use the same cell format, voltage rail, and connector geometry. If your current battery reads STB236, this pack slots in directly without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on STB236-compatible handsets. The battery accepts a full charge from the base station without triggering charge faults, and the BMS holds voltage steady through normal standby and talk load.
  • First-charge protocol for Ni-MH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use. Ni-MH cells shipped in a partially discharged state need a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this step is the main reason a new pack feels weaker than expected.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

New Ni-MH cells ship at a fraction of their rated capacity. Full capacity only comes after three to five complete charge-discharge cycles through normal use. If talk time feels short in the first week, that is expected behaviour — not a faulty battery. By cycle five, the pack should settle at its rated 250mAh output.

Base station charge light not activating on a new pack

Ni-MH batteries can drop below 3.0V during extended storage, which puts them below the threshold some base stations use to detect a valid battery and begin charging. If the charge indicator stays off after seating the handset, remove and reseat the battery once to reset contact, then leave the handset undisturbed in the base for at least 30 minutes. Most base stations will detect the rising voltage and resume normal charging from there. If the light still does not activate, verify the base station contacts are clean and making firm contact with the handset terminals.

Frequently Asked Questions

My cordless phone has noticeably shorter range after swapping in the new STB236 battery — what's causing that?

Reduced range is usually a transmit power issue, not a pairing issue. When a Ni-MH pack is low on cycles or hasn't been fully conditioned, voltage sags under the RF load the handset draws during a call — the transmitter pulls back power to compensate. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles first. If range is still short after conditioning, check that the handset sits flush in the base so the charging contacts maintain steady voltage above 3.6V.

My handset lost its pairing with the base station the moment I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Some DECT phones store pairing data in volatile memory that resets when power is fully removed. Replacing the battery cuts that power, which is enough to wipe the link. Re-register the handset through the base station's pairing mode — on most units this means holding the base "Find" or "Register" button for five seconds, then navigating to the handset's registration menu. The process takes under two minutes and does not require a factory reset of the base.

The handset battery drains completely overnight even though it's sitting in the base — is the battery faulty?

A fully seated handset should trickle-charge overnight, not drain. If it's losing charge, the most likely cause is a poor connection between the handset's charging pins and the base contacts — even a slight tilt can break the circuit. Clean both sets of contacts with a dry cloth, reseat the handset firmly, and confirm the base charging indicator activates. If the drain continues after that, check whether the base itself is drawing power from the outlet — a base with no power will not charge a seated handset.
