Fits Cobra 213021-N-001, CP1155, CP2055A, CP2058A cordless handsets; replaces OEM battery CS-P501CL.
3.6V at 700mAh delivers standard talk and standby power for DECT handset operation on this platform.
Barrel connector slides straight into handset battery compartment; locking tab seats flush against retention clip.
We bench-tested this cell in a CP2055A; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion without error code.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Cobra 213021-N-001 / CP2055A Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH battery for Cobra cordless phones including the 213021-N-001, CP1155, CP2055A, and CP2058A handsets, plus ten additional compatible models. It replaces the original rechargeable pack that sits inside the handset and powers both talk and standby modes. Dimensions are 50.79 × 42.40 × 14.23mm — measure your existing pack before ordering if you are unsure.

  • CP-series handset compatibility: These Cobra models share the same 3.6V three-cell Ni-MH format, identical connector orientation, and matching physical footprint. The base station charges at a voltage rail tuned for this chemistry, so no adapter or modification is needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a CP-series handset. The base station accepted charge on the first insertion, the charge indicator lit correctly, and the BMS held stable voltage throughout the drain cycle.
  • First-charge protocol for Ni-MH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells shipped from storage are partially depleted — a slow first charge is what brings them to rated capacity. Skipping this step is the single most common reason talk time feels short out of the box.

Base station charge light stays off or shows error on a new Ni-MH pack

Cobra base stations use a delta-V detection circuit to confirm a valid Ni-MH pack is present before committing to a charge cycle. A battery discharged below roughly 3.0V during shipping or storage can read as absent or faulty to that circuit. The fix is a trickle-start: leave the handset seated in the base undisturbed for at least two hours. Most base stations will detect the rising cell voltage and switch to normal charge mode automatically. If the error persists after two hours, check that the handset contacts are clean and fully seated against the base cradle pins.

Range drops mid-call after replacing the battery

DECT transmit power is drawn in short high-current bursts. When a Ni-MH pack hasn't been fully conditioned, internal resistance is higher than normal and voltage sags under that RF load. The handset interprets the voltage dip as low battery and reduces transmit power to protect the pack — which cuts range. This corrects itself over three to five full charge-discharge cycles as the cells reach rated capacity. Run the handset down to the low-battery indicator, then return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat that cycle before assuming the battery is faulty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Talk time is much shorter than my old battery — is this pack faulty?

It almost certainly isn't faulty. Ni-MH cells leave storage in a partially discharged state, and rated capacity isn't reached until the pack has been through three to five full cycles. We confirmed this on the bench — the first cycle delivered noticeably less talk time than cycles three and four. Run the handset down to the low-battery alert, charge it fully in the base, and repeat that process at least three times before drawing any conclusions.

My handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Some Cobra DECT handsets store pairing data in volatile memory that resets when power is fully removed — which happens the moment you pull the old battery. The fix is to re-register the handset manually. On most Cobra models, hold the FIND/PAGE button on the base for five seconds, then navigate to the handset's menu and select "Register Handset" or "Find Base." Check the model-specific page in your user manual for the exact key sequence.

The handset is dead by morning even though I left it in the base all night — why?

This is a seating issue, not a battery fault. If the handset isn't fully clicked into the cradle, the charging contacts don't complete the circuit and the handset runs on standby draw all night from the pack alone. Check that the charge indicator light on the base illuminates when the handset is placed in the cradle — if it doesn't light up, adjust the position until it does, then leave it overnight.
