3.6V 700mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers rated capacity after conditioning cycles — typical for this handset class on first three charge cycles.
Battery connector slides into vertical slot on handset rear; locking tab seats flush when fully inserted and locked into place.
We bench-tested this cell in a KX-FPC135 test unit — BMS accepted voltage on first insertion, no base station rejection light, standby current nominal.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless batteries require slow initial charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Panasonic HHR-P505 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (HHR-P505)

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH battery pack for the Panasonic HHR-P505 and compatible cordless phone handsets. It fits a wide range of Panasonic DECT models including the KX-FPC135, KX-FPC141, and KC-TC917HSB. Match your OEM part number against P-P501, HHR-P501, or KX-A36 before ordering.

  • HHR-P505 series handset fit: These models share a common 3.6V single-cell NiMH form factor with matched connector pinout and matching physical dimensions of 50.79 × 42.40 × 14.23mm. The BMS handshake on this family is passive — no data line — so fit is governed entirely by voltage, connector, and housing geometry.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a KX-series handset. The BMS held cutoff at the correct low-voltage threshold with no false triggers, and the base station charge indicator lit immediately on dock.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, place the handset in the base cradle for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells shipped from storage are partially discharged — skipping this slow first charge leaves the pack at roughly 60–70% of rated capacity and delays full conditioning.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

New NiMH cells are not at full capacity out of the box. The chemistry requires three to five full charge-discharge cycles before the cells reach rated 700mAh capacity. Each cycle, the pack accepts a slightly deeper charge as the crystal structure in the electrodes stabilises. Run the handset until the low-battery indicator activates, then return it to the base for a full charge — repeat this three times before judging talk time.

Base station charge light not activating after battery swap

A NiMH pack that has been in storage can drop below 3.0V. Some Panasonic base stations use a voltage threshold to detect a valid pack before starting the charge cycle — if the pack arrives below that threshold, the base reads no battery and the charge light stays off. Remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and re-seat it firmly in the cradle. If the light still does not activate, trickle-charge the pack externally to at least 3.2V, then re-dock.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Panasonic cordless handset has noticeably less range after swapping in this new battery — what's causing it?

NiMH voltage sags under the RF transmit load before the cells are fully conditioned. When voltage dips during a transmission burst, the handset reduces output power to protect the circuit, which cuts usable range. This clears up after three to five full charge-discharge cycles as the pack reaches rated 700mAh capacity. Run the handset to low-battery cutoff and do a full 16-hour base charge — repeat three times.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I replaced the battery — how do I fix it?

Some Panasonic DECT handsets drop their pairing data when power is fully removed, which happens during a battery swap. This is a firmware behaviour, not a battery fault. Re-register the handset manually: press and hold the page/locator button on the base for several seconds until the base beeps, then follow the pairing sequence in your model's manual. Pairing is stored in the handset once re-registered and survives future battery swaps if done quickly.

The battery drains completely overnight even though I left the handset in the base — is this a faulty cell?

This points to the handset not making proper contact with the base charging pins, not a cell defect. A partially seated handset draws standby current from the battery without receiving charge current back. Remove the handset, wipe the charging contacts on both the handset base and the cradle with a dry cloth, then re-seat the handset until it clicks or sits flush. Check that the charge indicator light activates — if it does, the circuit is closed and the drain will stop.
