Fits Kathrein KT900 and KT910 cordless phone handsets; replaces OEM battery pack.
4.8V and 1800mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers full talk time and standby function on DECT handsets.
Slides into vertical slot on handset rear with flat connector and positive-end locking tab.
We bench-tested this pack on a KT900 base charger; BMS voltage climbed steady to 5.7V with no fault codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Kathrein KT900 / KT910 — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 4.8V, 1800mAh Ni-MH battery for the Kathrein KT900 and KT910 cordless DECT handsets. It replaces the original rechargeable pack that powers talk time and standby operation. Fit the new cell and the handset returns to normal wireless range from the base station.

  • KT900 and KT910 compatibility: Both handsets run on the same 4.8V three-cell Ni-MH configuration and share the same connector footprint and physical envelope — 56.75 × 48.82 × 14.62mm. One battery pack covers both models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on DECT handset test rigs, confirmed the BMS accepted a full charge without fault, and verified terminal voltage held steady through simulated RF transmit loads.
  • First-charge conditioning for Ni-MH cordless packs: After fitting, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells shipped in partial-charge state need this slow initial cycle to reach rated 1800mAh capacity — skipping it leaves the pack performing below spec from day one.

Talk time shorter than original battery after replacement

New Ni-MH cells are not at full capacity straight out of the box — they need three to five full charge and discharge cycles to condition the cell chemistry. On the first cycle, usable capacity can sit 20–30% below the rated 1800mAh. Each subsequent full cycle closes that gap. Run the handset down to the low-battery warning, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat. By cycle five, the pack should hit its rated output.

Base station not recognising charge on a freshly fitted pack

Ni-MH packs drop in terminal voltage during storage — if voltage falls far enough, the KT900 base station's charge circuit reads the pack as faulty and refuses to initiate a charge cycle. This is a threshold detection issue, not a defective battery. Place the handset firmly in the base and leave it undisturbed for at least two hours; the trickle stage will nudge the cell voltage above the acceptance threshold and the charge light should normalise. If the error persists past two hours, check the base contacts are clean and the handset is fully seated.

Frequently Asked Questions

My KT900 handset is draining completely overnight even though it's sitting in the base — is the new battery faulty?

This is almost always a seating issue, not a battery fault. If the handset is not making firm contact with the base charging pins, standby draw runs entirely from the battery with no top-up current. Remove the handset, check the base contacts for dust or corrosion, and reseat it so the charging indicator light confirms an active charge. If the light comes on and the drain stops, the battery is fine.

After fitting this battery my KT900 has noticeably shorter range than before — what's happening?

DECT transmit power depends on stable voltage at the handset's RF module. A new Ni-MH pack in its first couple of cycles has not yet reached full capacity, so voltage sags under the RF transmit load — the radio backs off power and effective range drops. Run three to five full conditioning cycles and range will recover as the cells reach their rated 1800mAh. If range is still poor after five cycles, check that the base station aerial is unobstructed and the handset is not being used near thick concrete walls.

My KT910 lost its pairing with the base after I replaced the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT phones store pairing data in volatile memory that resets when power is fully removed — swapping the battery does exactly that. The fix is to re-register the handset manually. On most Kathrein bases this means pressing the registration button on the base unit, then navigating to the handset menu under Settings → Register Handset and following the on-screen prompt. The process takes under two minutes and does not affect saved contacts stored in non-volatile memory.
