Fits KPN 500 Micro cordless phone handset; replaces OEM battery CS-SMC55CL.
3.7V 750mAh lithium-ion cell delivers stable voltage under talk load on DECT handsets.
Connector slides straight into handset battery slot; no locking tab, seat fully until seated.
We bench tested this cell in a 500 Micro base charger; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion and held voltage under transmit simulation.
After installation, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before use — this KPN li-ion pack needs slow conditioning to reach rated capacity on DECT platforms.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

KPN 500 Micro / Chicago 700E Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 750mAh Li-ion battery fits the KPN 500 Micro, Chicago 700E, and Chicago 700E BT cordless DECT handsets. It slots into the handset battery compartment and restores talk and standby function when the original cell no longer holds a charge. Capacity is 750mAh (2.78Wh), matching the original cell specification.

  • 500 Micro and Chicago 700E compatibility: These three handsets share the same 3.7V Li-ion cell format, physical footprint (50.20 × 37.50 × 7.65mm), and connector orientation. One battery fits all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on the 500 Micro platform and confirmed the BMS accepted charge from the base station without error. Voltage held steady at 3.7V nominal across the discharge curve with no premature cutoff.
  • First charge after install: Li-ion cells lose some charge during storage. Place the handset in the base immediately after fitting the new battery and leave it for a full charge cycle before using the handset — this brings the cell to rated capacity from its stored state.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

A fresh Li-ion cell shipped in storage mode often starts at 30–50% charge, so the first one or two cycles will feel short. The cell needs two to three full charge and use cycles before it reaches its rated 750mAh capacity. Do not judge talk time on the first charge. After three cycles, if talk time is still noticeably short, check the handset contacts and base cradle contacts for corrosion — a dirty contact raises internal resistance and limits charge transfer.

Base station shows no charge light or error after new battery is installed

If the base station does not show a charge indicator after you seat the handset, the cell voltage may have dropped below the base unit's acceptance threshold during storage. Remove the handset, wait ten seconds, and reseat it firmly — this resets the charge handshake. If the base still shows no activity, check that the handset is fully seated and the gold contacts on both handset and cradle are clean and making solid contact. A brief wipe with a dry cloth on both contact sets resolves most no-charge errors.

Frequently Asked Questions

My KPN 500 Micro handset won't pair with the base after I swapped the battery — what happened?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT phones drop their pairing data when power is fully lost. Re-register the handset using the pairing button on the base station — typically a press-and-hold for three to five seconds until the base indicator flashes. Check your handset manual for the exact sequence, as the Chicago 700E BT uses a slightly different re-registration step than the 500 Micro. Once paired, the handset will connect to the base normally.

The battery drains overnight even though I left the handset in the base — is something wrong?

This is almost always a seating issue, not a faulty cell. If the handset is not fully clicked into the cradle, the base does not deliver charge and the handset runs entirely off the battery in standby mode. Remove the handset, check the base cradle contacts for dust or debris, and reseat the handset until you hear or feel it click into position. Confirm the base charge indicator lights up within a few seconds of seating — if it does, the handset is drawing charge correctly and overnight drain will stop.

The KPN 500 Micro loses range near the edges of my home after the battery swap — is the new battery causing this?

Yes, in a specific way. The DECT radio in the handset draws a short burst of higher current during transmission, and a Li-ion cell at low charge produces a voltage sag under that RF load. This voltage sag causes the transmit power to drop, which shortens effective range. Keep the handset charged above half capacity for consistent range — a cell that reads low on the base indicator will sag harder under RF load. If range is short even at full charge after three full cycles, check that the base station antenna is unobstructed.
