Fits Poly 2200-86810-001, Rove 30, Rove 40 cordless handsets; replaces OEM BP1709/A battery pack.
3.7V lithium-ion with 1200mAh capacity sustains talk and standby time across full office or home range.
Connector slides vertically into handset battery slot with single locking tab on bottom edge.
We bench-tested this cell in a Rove 40 base acceptance test — voltage settled at 3.65V under standby draw, no fault codes.
Place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour initial charge before use; lithium-ion conditioning differs from older NiMH packs in these phones.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Poly Rove 30 / Rove 40 / 2200-86810-001 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP1709/A)

This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Poly Rove 30, Rove 40, and 2200-86810-001 wireless DECT handsets. It replaces OEM part BP1709/A and restores power to handsets that no longer hold a charge. The cell measures 53.00 × 34.00 × 5.70mm — a direct physical match for the original battery compartment.

  • Rove 30 and Rove 40 compatibility: Both handsets share the same 3.7V single-cell Li-ion pack, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — that is why one part number covers both models.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on the Rove 40 handset and confirmed the base station accepted the charging handshake immediately, with the BMS holding voltage steady across standby and active call load.
  • First charge after installation: Place the handset in the base and leave it undisturbed for a full charge cycle before use — the Rove series base detects cell voltage and adjusts charge rate accordingly, so interrupting that first cycle can cause the base to underestimate capacity on subsequent charges.

Talk time shorter than expected on the Rove 30 and Rove 40 after a battery swap

Li-ion cells ship in a partial state of charge for transport safety. When the Rove base station first sees a new cell, it calibrates its fuel gauge against the incoming voltage — if that voltage is low, the gauge under-reports capacity and cuts off early. Running two or three full charge-and-use cycles resets the calibration. After that, the handset should reflect the full 1200mAh rating.

Rove handset loses DECT pairing after battery replacement

Removing the battery from a Rove handset cuts all power to the DECT module, which can clear the stored base station registration in some firmware versions. The fix is straightforward: place the handset back in the base, press and hold the registration button on the base unit until the handset re-registers — the process takes under 60 seconds. If the handset still shows no link, confirm the battery is seated firmly and reading above 3.5V before attempting re-registration.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Rove 40 base station shows a charging error light after I installed the new battery — what's wrong?

This happens when the cell arrives from storage at a voltage the base station's charge controller considers out of range. Leave the handset seated in the base for 15–20 minutes without touching it — the controller will trickle-charge the cell up to the acceptance threshold and then switch to normal charge mode. If the error light clears, the cycle completed correctly; if it stays on after 30 minutes, remove and reseat the battery to confirm the connector is fully engaged.

My Rove 30 drains completely overnight even though I left it in the base — is the battery defective?

A fully seated handset should draw charge from the base, not drain. Overnight drain almost always means the handset is not making solid contact with the base charging pins — check that the handset clicks into position and that the pins on the base are clean and unobstructed. Wipe the contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, reseat the handset, and check that the charging indicator light activates. If the drain continues with confirmed contact, the base station power supply may need attention.

The Rove 40 handset shows a full battery icon but drops signal and cuts out during calls — what causes that?

This is voltage sag under RF transmit load. When the DECT radio fires, it draws a burst of current — if the cell voltage sags below approximately 3.4V under that load, the handset interprets it as low battery and throttles transmit power, cutting range and causing dropouts. Run two full charge cycles to let the cell reach its rated capacity. If dropouts continue after conditioning, check that the handset is not operating at maximum range from the base, which increases transmit demand on the battery.
