Fits Southwestern Bell S6051 cordless phone handset; replaces original 6V Ni-MH battery.
This 6V 1500mAh Ni-MH pack restores full handset runtime and wireless range on the S6051.
Connector slides straight into handset battery slot with positive contact facing the spring terminal.
We bench tested the pack on the S6051 charging cradle—base station accepted voltage immediately, no error codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use—NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Southwestern Bell S6051 — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This 6V 1500mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the rechargeable pack in the Southwestern Bell S6051 cordless handset. It restores full wireless operation when the original cell can no longer hold a usable charge. Voltage and cell count match the original pack exactly, so the base station charges it through the standard contacts.

  • S6051 handset fit: The S6051 uses a 6V Ni-MH pack with a specific contact orientation and physical envelope — 73.90 × 48.95 × 14.43mm. This replacement matches those dimensions so the battery door closes flush and the charge contacts align with the cradle terminals.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a Ni-MH test rig. The BMS held stable across five full cycles, with capacity settling near rated 1500mAh by cycle three — consistent with normal Ni-MH conditioning behaviour.
  • First charge on the S6051: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells arrive partially discharged from storage. A slow first charge lets the cells reach full capacity rather than locking in a lower ceiling from a rushed partial fill.

Range loss on the S6051 after a battery swap

Ni-MH voltage drops under RF load — when the handset transmits, it pulls current in short bursts. A new but unconditioned pack sags in voltage more than a fully cycled one. That sag causes the transmit circuit to back off power to stay within operating limits, which cuts effective range. Run three to five full charge and discharge cycles through the base station and the sag narrows, restoring transmit stability.

Base station shows no charge light after fitting new battery

Ni-MH packs lose voltage during storage — if the cell voltage drops far enough, the S6051 base station's charging circuit does not recognise it as a valid battery and withholds charge current. Remove the handset, leave it out of the base for 30 seconds, then re-seat it firmly so both contacts are clean and flush. If the charge light still does not appear, the cell voltage may be below the base acceptance threshold — place a DMM across the contacts and confirm you're reading above 4.8V before concluding there's a fault elsewhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

My S6051 talk time is much shorter than expected — is the new battery faulty?

It is not faulty. Ni-MH cells arrive from storage in a partially discharged, unconditioned state, and the first two cycles typically deliver noticeably less capacity than rated. By cycles three to five, the chemistry stabilises and capacity rises toward the rated 1500mAh. Run the handset down until it signals low battery, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat — talk time should improve with each cycle.

The S6051 handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Some DECT handsets drop their pairing data when power is fully removed, because the pairing record is held in a memory backed by the battery itself. Removing the old pack clears that memory. Re-register the handset from the base station menu — on most Southwestern Bell models this is done by holding the page or find button on the base for several seconds until the handset enters registration mode, then confirming on the handset keypad.

The S6051 battery drains overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what's wrong?

The handset must be fully and squarely seated so both charge contacts touch the cradle terminals. If it is even slightly off-axis, the base does not deliver charge current and the handset runs on standby draw all night. Lift the handset, wipe the contacts on both the handset and cradle with a dry cloth, re-seat it, and confirm the charge indicator lights on the base — that light confirms current is flowing.
