Fits Telia Free 3000 and Free 3001 cordless handsets, replaces OEM part NS-3098.
2.4V at 700mAh capacity powers this DECT handset through talk and standby cycles.
Connector slides vertically into the handset battery slot with a single locking tab.
We ran charge cycles on a Free 3000 base — NiMH BMS accepted voltage immediately, no fault codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Telia Free 3000 / Free 3001 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (NS-3098)

This is a 2.4V 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Telia Free 3000 and Free 3001 cordless DECT handsets. It replaces OEM part NS-3098 (also listed as BC101590). When the original cell degrades and the handset stops holding a charge, this pack restores operation to the handset.

  • Free 3000 and Free 3001 compatibility: Both models share the same 2.4V two-cell NiMH pack, connector orientation, and physical footprint — 6.00 × 33.00 × 48.00mm. The base station charging circuit expects NiMH chemistry at this voltage, so swapping chemistry type would cause a charging fault.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the Free 3000 base station. The BMS accepted the pack without an error light from cycle one, and voltage held stable under RF transmit load through multiple test calls.
  • First charge on NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones arrive partially discharged from storage and need a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this shortens the usable charge significantly on early cycles.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

NiMH cells don't deliver rated capacity on the first charge cycle — this is normal chemistry behaviour, not a defect. The cells need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach 700mAh. Each cycle should run the handset until it signals low battery, then return it to the base for a full charge. By cycle five, capacity stabilises and talk time matches what the original pack delivered when new.

Base station shows no charge or error light after fitting new pack

This happens when the replacement pack arrives with voltage too low for the base station's acceptance threshold after extended storage. The base detects a voltage below its minimum and refuses to start the charge cycle. Place the handset in the base and hold it firmly seated — some Free 3000 bases require a firm contact to initialise. If the error persists after five minutes, remove the battery, leave it out for 30 seconds, refit it, and reseat the handset. The base should accept the pack once terminal voltage rises slightly from contact warmth and begins the trickle charge phase.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Telia Free 3000 handset is losing range after I fitted the new battery — the original had no problem in the same spots of the house. What's happening?

Range drop after a battery swap on DECT handsets is almost always voltage sag under RF load. When the NiMH pack is not yet conditioned, its internal resistance is higher, and the voltage dips when the transmitter fires — the handset reduces transmit power to compensate. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles and the internal resistance drops. Range should return to where it was once the cells are properly conditioned.

The Telia Free 3000 is losing most of its charge overnight just sitting in the base — is the new battery draining itself?

This is a standby draw issue, not self-discharge from the battery. If the handset is not making full contact with the base charging pins, it draws from the battery but doesn't receive charge back. Remove the handset, clean the charging contacts on both the base and the handset with a dry cloth, then reseat it firmly. Confirm the charge indicator light is active on the base — if it's not lit, the handset is running on battery the entire time it sits there.

My Telia Free 3000 won't pair with the base after I swapped the battery — it was registered before. Did the swap erase the pairing?

Yes — some DECT handsets lose their base registration when power is fully interrupted, which happens during a battery swap. The fix is to re-register the handset manually. On most Free 3000 systems, press and hold the registration button on the base until the base beeps, then initiate a search from the handset menu under Settings or Registration. The handset should locate the base within 60 seconds and restore the pairing.
