Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Telrad 3040 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 950mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Telrad 3040 cordless phone handset. It fits the portable handset unit that pairs with the Telrad 3040 corded base station. Dimensions are 51.54 x 32.75 x 8.30mm — confirm against your existing pack before ordering.

  • Telrad 3040 handset fit: This battery matches the voltage rail and physical footprint the 3040 handset expects. The 3.7V output keeps the DECT radio and talk circuit within operating range without triggering the handset's low-voltage cutoff during normal use.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench. The protection circuit held charge termination correctly and the BMS responded to draw without tripping prematurely under simulated DECT transmit load.
  • First charge on the Telrad 3040 base: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Li-ion cells shipped in storage state need a complete first charge cycle to register correctly with the handset's charge management circuit.

Talk time shorter than expected after fitting a new battery

A new Li-ion cell arrives partially discharged from storage. If you pull the handset off the base after only a short charge, the cell hasn't reached full capacity yet. The handset's fuel gauge may also show inaccurate readings until the battery completes one full charge cycle. Run it flat, charge it fully in the base, and capacity will settle to the rated 950mAh.

Handset loses DECT pairing after battery replacement

Removing the old battery cuts power completely to the handset's memory. Some DECT phones store their pairing registration in volatile memory, and that data clears when the battery is disconnected. After fitting the new battery, the handset may show "unregistered" or fail to connect to the base. Re-register the handset using the base station's registration button — on the Telrad 3040, hold the registration button on the base for three seconds, then follow the handset pairing prompt.

Frequently Asked Questions

The base station shows no charge light after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?

A Li-ion cell stored for months can drop below the voltage threshold the base expects before it will begin charging. The base sees the low-voltage pack and doesn't initiate the charge cycle. Seat the handset firmly so the contacts are clean and fully engaged, then leave it for up to 30 minutes — most Telrad 3040 bases will begin trickle-charging a deeply discharged pack before switching to normal charge. If the light still doesn't come on, check the contact pins on the handset base for corrosion and clean them with a dry cloth.

The handset only holds charge for a short time but the base light goes green quickly — is the battery faulty?

A fast green light usually means the base detected a low-resistance pack and cut the charge short, not that the cell is full. This happens when the battery's internal state doesn't match what the charger expects from a fresh cell. Run the handset down until the low-battery alert triggers, then do a full uninterrupted charge in the base for 16 hours. One complete discharge-to-full cycle is usually enough to bring actual capacity in line with the rated 950mAh.

The handset drops range and crackles near the edges of a room after the battery swap — was it doing this before?

DECT handsets boost transmit power when signal weakens, and that draw pulls the battery voltage down sharply. If the cell voltage sags under that RF load, the handset's radio circuit throttles back rather than maintain the transmission cleanly. This is common with a new pack that hasn't completed its first full charge — partial charge means lower voltage ceiling under load. Charge the handset fully in the base for 16 hours, then test range again from the same spot; voltage sag under RF load drops significantly once the cell is at full charge state.
