This is a 3.7V 950mAh Li-ion battery for the Siemens Gigaset SL78H handset and related SL780, SL785, and SL788 models. It slots directly into the handset battery compartment and connects to the same contacts as the original pack. Voltage and capacity match the OEM specification exactly.

  • SL78H / SL780 / SL785 / SL788 platform fit: These handsets share the same slim battery bay, 3.7V supply rail, and contact layout. One battery SKU covers the full SL7xx family because the BMS handshake and connector geometry are identical across the range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on SL78H hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without error, held the 3.7V nominal rail under DECT transmit load, and reached rated capacity within three full cycles.
  • First charge after installation: Place the handset in the base immediately after fitting this battery and leave it there for a full uninterrupted charge before first use. Li-ion cells shipped in storage state need one complete charge cycle to let the BMS calibrate the state-of-charge counter accurately.

Why the SL78H loses range after a battery swap

DECT transmit pulses pull current in short bursts. If the replacement cell has high internal resistance — common in aged or deeply discharged packs — voltage sags under each RF burst. The handset reads that sag as low battery and reduces transmit power to protect the circuit. The result is a shorter range that looks like a pairing or antenna fault but is actually a voltage delivery issue. A new cell at full charge eliminates the sag and restores full transmit power.

Handset not pairing with base after battery replacement

Removing the battery cuts power completely to the handset. Some DECT phones store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when power is lost. If the SL78H shows no base connection after fitting this battery, the handset needs to re-register. On most Gigaset bases, hold the registration button on the base unit for three seconds, then follow the handset menu to re-pair. The process takes under two minutes and does not affect other registered handsets.

My SL78H talk time is much shorter than the original battery — is the new cell faulty?

Not necessarily. Li-ion cells shipped from storage deliver reduced capacity on the first one to two cycles while the BMS recalibrates. We saw the same pattern on the bench — full rated capacity was reached by cycle three. Run two or three complete charge and discharge cycles before judging performance. If capacity is still low after five cycles, check that the handset is seating fully in the base and the charge contacts are clean.

The base station shows no charge light when I put the handset in after fitting the new battery — what's wrong?

Batteries stored before shipping can sit at a low state of charge. If the cell voltage drops below the base station's acceptance threshold, the charger circuit will not engage and no charge indicator lights up. Place the handset in the base and wait up to 20 minutes — the charger often starts once the cell recovers slightly from rest. If the light still does not appear, check the charge contacts on both the handset and the base with a dry cloth, then reseat the handset firmly.

The battery drains overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base — what causes that?

Overnight drain in the base usually means the handset is not making solid contact with the charging pins. The SL78H base charges through two small spring contacts on the bottom of the handset — if the handset is even slightly misaligned, the circuit stays open and the battery runs on standby draw all night. Remove the handset, wipe the charge contacts on both the handset and the base with a dry cloth, then reseat it until you hear or feel it click into position. A correctly seated handset should show a charge indicator on the display within 30 seconds.
