Fits EnGenius EP-802, EP-802H, and Freestyl2 handsets; replaces OEM part number FREESTYL2BA.
3.7V, 1200mAh lithium-ion cell delivers talk time matching the original pack capacity.
Connector slides into the battery compartment with a positive-contact snap tab on insertion.
We bench-tested the BMS on a base station charger; voltage climbed cleanly to 4.2V without fault signals.
After installation, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before active use — lithium cordless packs need slow first charging to establish stable voltage regulation on the DECT platform.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

EnGenius EP-802 / Freestyl2 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (FREESTYL2BA)

This 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original FREESTYL2BA pack in the EnGenius EP-802, EP-802H, and Freestyl2 cordless phone handsets. It fits the same battery bay with the same connector orientation. Voltage and capacity match the OEM spec exactly.

  • EP-802, EP-802H, and Freestyl2 compatibility: All three handsets share the same 3.7V single-cell Li-ion bay, connector pin-out, and BMS communication protocol — one battery covers the full range without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the EP-802 base station charge circuit. The BMS accepted the charge handshake immediately, held charge termination voltage at 4.2V, and showed no false low-battery flags during discharge.
  • First charge on the EP-802 base: Li-ion cells shipped in storage state may read as low as 3.0V. Seat the handset in the base immediately after installation and leave it for a full uninterrupted charge cycle before use — the EP-802 base will indicate charge complete when the cell reaches termination voltage.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

A new Li-ion cell delivered from storage has not yet been through a proper full charge-discharge cycle. The EP-802's fuel gauge reads capacity estimates from voltage curves, and a cell that hasn't been fully cycled will report depletion earlier than it should. Run two or three full charge and use cycles through the base station before judging talk time. By the third cycle, measured discharge capacity should be at or near the rated 1200mAh.

EP-802 base station not charging after battery swap

If the base shows no charge indicator after you seat the handset, the cell voltage may have dropped below the base's acceptance threshold during storage. Remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and re-seat it firmly — this re-triggers the charge initiation handshake. If the charge light still does not activate, check that the handset contacts are clean and making full contact with the base cradle pins. The base should begin charging once the battery reads above approximately 2.5V, which this cell will at the point of delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions

My EnGenius EP-802 handset lost its pairing to the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT cordless systems drop their pairing data when power is fully interrupted. You need to re-register the handset to the base manually. On the Freestyl2 system, hold the handset's page/find button on the base for several seconds, then follow the handset's on-screen pairing prompt. Once registered, the handset will reconnect to the base on the next power-up.

The EP-802 handset battery drains overnight even when it's sitting in the base — what's causing that?

Overnight drain in the base almost always means the handset is not making solid contact with the charging cradle pins. Check that the handset clicks fully into the base and that neither the handset contacts nor the cradle pins have oxidation or debris on them. A handset that is slightly tilted or not fully seated will run on battery the entire time. Clean the contacts with a dry cloth, reseat the handset, and confirm the charge indicator light activates.

The EP-802 handset range feels weaker than before I replaced the battery — is the new battery causing that?

Range reduction after a battery swap usually points to voltage sag under RF transmit load. When a Li-ion cell is not yet fully charged, its output voltage drops further than normal when the radio module draws current during transmission. Charge the handset fully in the base before making calls. If range is still reduced after a complete charge cycle, check that the battery contacts in the handset bay are not bent or dirty — a resistive connection causes the same voltage sag as a partially charged cell.
