Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ericsson DT590 / DTX-9013 / DT5900 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (NTM/BKBNB10114/1)

This is a 3.7V, 850mAh lithium-ion battery for the Ericsson DT590, DTX-9013, and DT5900 cordless DECT handsets. It replaces OEM part NTM/BKBNB10114/1. Fits the battery bay directly, using the same connector and cell footprint as the original.

  • DT590 / DTX-9013 / DT5900 platform fit: These three handsets share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V supply rail. One cell SKU covers all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the DT590 platform. The protection circuit engaged correctly at low-voltage cutoff, and the base station accepted the charge handshake without error on first placement.
  • First charge on the DT590 base: After installing this battery, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Li-ion cells shipped in storage state need a complete slow charge to reach rated capacity — pulling the handset off early will leave you with a partially conditioned cell.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

A new Li-ion cell arrives partially discharged from storage — typically between 40–60% state of charge. If you start using the handset immediately, the battery has not reached its rated 850mAh capacity yet. Complete two or three full charge cycles in the base before drawing conclusions about talk time. After the third full cycle, capacity should stabilise at or near the rated figure.

DT590 handset loses DECT pairing after battery swap

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset's volatile memory, which can erase the DECT registration stored in the handset. The base station will show the handset as unregistered or simply won't ring it. To fix this, re-register the handset through the base station's subscription mode — on most Ericsson DECT systems, hold the registration button on the base for three seconds, then follow the handset pairing prompt.

Frequently Asked Questions

The base station light stays red and won't charge after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?

A Li-ion cell shipped from storage sits at reduced voltage, and some DECT base stations reject a charge handshake below their acceptance threshold. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, and re-seat it firmly — a loose contact is also a common cause. If the error persists, check that the battery connector is fully clicked in and the contacts on the handset are clean. On the Ericsson DT590 base, a solid red light that clears after re-seating confirms a contact issue, not a faulty cell.

Handset has noticeably shorter range after swapping the battery — is the new cell causing this?

Range drop after a battery swap usually points to voltage sag under RF transmit load, not a defective cell. When a Li-ion cell is not yet fully conditioned, its internal resistance is slightly higher, so voltage dips more under the burst current the DECT radio draws during transmission. Run two or three full charge cycles in the base first — after that, internal resistance settles and transmit power stabilises. If range is still reduced after three cycles, check that the handset antenna contacts are clean and unobstructed.

Battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what causes that?

Overnight drain while docked almost always means the handset is not making a solid connection with the base charging contacts. The DT590 handset needs to click firmly into the cradle — if it sits at a slight angle, the contacts touch intermittently and the cell draws standby current from the battery rather than the base supply. Clean the gold charging pins on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, then re-seat the handset until you hear or feel it lock. A correctly docked DT590 draws charge current from the base and the battery level holds steady overnight.
