The handset's charge management circuit recalibrates its end-of-charge voltage reference against actual cell behaviour over those early cycles. Until that calibration settles, the fuel gauge cuts off early and the handset may show low battery before the cell is genuinely depleted. Run three full charge-and-use cycles and talk time will stabilise at rated capacity.

Base station charge light not activating after fitting new battery

Gigaset base stations check for a minimum voltage on the charge contacts before starting the charge circuit — cells shipped in deep storage can sit below that threshold. If the cradle light stays off or flashes an error, the handset is not drawing charge. Remove the handset, check the gold charge contacts on both handset and base for dirt or oxidation, clean with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. If the base still does not register a charge, the cell voltage may need a brief external boost to 3.0V before the base's charge circuit will engage.
