Samsung SP-R5000 / SP-R5050 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Samsung SP-R5000 and SP-R5050 cordless phone handsets. It restores power to handsets where the original cell no longer holds a charge. Dimensions are 45.30 x 31.10 x 10.75mm — confirm these against your existing pack before ordering.

• SP-R5000 and SP-R5050 compatibility: Both models run the same 3.6V single-cell NiMH architecture with the same connector and contact layout. One battery fits both handsets without modification.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full charge and discharge on the SP-R5000 platform. The BMS accepted charge from the base station on the first seating, and the handset reported a full charge indicator within the expected window.
• First charge after installation: Place the handset in the base for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells ship in a partially discharged state, and a slow initial charge is what gets them to rated 600mAh capacity — skipping this leaves you with noticeably shorter talk time out of the gate.

Talk time shorter than the original battery for the first few uses

NiMH cells need conditioning — typically three to five full charge and discharge cycles — before they reach rated capacity. A new battery coming out of storage will often deliver noticeably less talk time on the first cycle than it will on the fifth. This is normal chemistry behaviour, not a defect. Run the handset until the low-battery indicator appears, then return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat until talk time stabilises.

Base station not registering a charge on a freshly installed battery

NiMH batteries stored for extended periods can drop below the minimum voltage threshold that the base station expects before initiating a charge cycle. When the cell voltage is too low, the base reads the pack as missing or faulty rather than flat. Remove the handset, hold it out of the cradle for 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly — the base will often retry detection and begin charging. If the error persists, check that the handset contacts are clean and making full contact with the cradle pins.
