Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Ravioli Joy / LNH650 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (NH650)
This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Ravioli Joy crane remote control, identified by OEM part number NH650. It fits the Joy and LNH650 remote units used to operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the remote stops responding mid-operation.
- Joy and LNH650 fit: Both models share the NH650 cell format — same 3.6V nominal rail, same connector pinout, and the same charge management circuit built into the remote's cradle charger. One replacement covers both units.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Ravioli cradle charger and monitored the charge profile. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and the remote powered on and held signal through repeated command inputs at full load.
- Storage charge for infrequent use: Crane remotes often sit unused between jobs or seasonal shutdowns. Charge this battery once a month during any idle period — Ni-MH cells left fully discharged for extended periods develop voltage depression, and the remote's charge circuit may not recover a cell that has dropped below its detection threshold.
Solenoid activation causing power dropout on a freshly installed battery
When a crane solenoid or relay fires, it draws a short inrush current spike that can exceed what a low-capacity or partially charged cell can deliver cleanly. The remote's internal circuit interprets the resulting voltage sag as a low-battery condition and cuts power to protect the electronics. This is why a new battery straight out of packaging can still cause dropouts — the cell ships at storage voltage, not full charge. Charge to full before any operational use, particularly before activating solenoid-controlled functions.
Remote shows low battery indicator immediately after new cell install
Ni-MH cells ship at approximately 50–60% state of charge to slow self-discharge during transit and storage. The Ravioli Joy remote reads cell voltage on startup, and a cell at storage voltage will trigger the low-battery indicator right away. This is not a faulty cell — it is an uncharged one. Place the battery in the cradle charger and run a full charge cycle before judging capacity. The indicator should clear once the cell reaches its nominal 3.6V resting voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Ravioli Joy remote hasn't been used for several months and now won't power on at all — is the battery dead?
Ni-MH cells left discharged for months can drop below the voltage threshold the remote's charge circuit needs to detect the battery. Connect the remote to the cradle charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before pressing power — the charger needs time to push enough current into a deeply discharged cell to bring it back into detectable range. If the remote powers on after that initial charge period, run a full cycle before returning it to service. A cell that still shows no response after 45 minutes on the charger has likely degraded past recovery and needs replacement.
The crane remote cuts out the moment I press a button to activate the hoist — the new battery was fully charged before use. What's happening?
Hoist activation sends a command that triggers a solenoid or contactor, and the inrush current spike at that moment creates a brief voltage sag on the battery. If the sag is steep enough, the remote's protection circuit trips and drops power. We saw this on the bench when testing a cell that had partially self-discharged after sitting in the remote for a week without use. Top up the charge immediately before any lifting operation, and confirm the cell is reading at or above 3.6V resting voltage before use.
The remote's E-stop response feels slower than it used to — could the battery be causing this?
E-stop response time on the Ravioli Joy is voltage-dependent — the RF transmitter output drops as cell voltage falls, which can add latency between button press and relay response at the crane end. A cell with reduced capacity fades faster under the transmitter's continuous draw, pulling voltage down mid-use. Test with a fully charged cell and confirm resting voltage is at 3.6V before starting any lift. If response time improves immediately after a fresh charge but degrades quickly during use, the cell has lost capacity and needs replacement.
