Fits Dual DAB 20 digital radio, replaces OEM part NA2000D08C101.
8.4V, 1500mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers stable voltage for full RF output and uninterrupted DAB reception on portable units.
Connector slides straight into the battery compartment with positive terminal forward; locking tab seats flush when fully inserted.
Tested on bench charge cycle — BMS accepted full cycle without cutoff, voltage held steady under decode load.
After installation, run the radio's full auto-scan for stations before manual tuning — power loss resets the station list in volatile memory.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dual DAB 20 — 8.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (NA2000D08C101)

This is an 8.4V, 1500mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Dual DAB 20 portable digital radio. It matches OEM part number NA2000D08C101 and slots directly into the DAB 20 battery compartment. Voltage and capacity are matched to the original specification so the DAB decoder and RF front-end receive the correct power supply.

  • Dual DAB 20 fit: The DAB 20 draws power through a fixed-voltage rail shared by the RF tuner and digital decoder. Both circuits require 8.4V nominal from a Ni-MH cell stack — swapping chemistry or voltage causes the decoder to drop the stream or fail to power on entirely.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through charge and discharge cycles on the DAB 20 platform. The BMS held stable voltage through the tuner lock sequence and maintained output above the DAB decoder's minimum threshold across the full discharge curve.
  • Station list rebuild after swap: After fitting this battery, run a full auto-scan before manual tuning. The DAB 20 stores its station list in volatile memory — a power interruption from a flat or removed battery wipes it. Auto-scan rebuilds the complete multiplex list for your region.

Radio cutting out mid-station at low battery on the DAB 20

The DAB 20's decoder chip needs a stable voltage above roughly 6V to maintain its stream lock. As a Ni-MH pack discharges, cell voltage drops gradually — but under RF load, instantaneous sags can push the supply below that threshold. When that happens, the decoder loses frame sync and the audio drops out, even if the battery indicator still shows charge remaining. A fresh, fully charged pack eliminates the sag margin that causes mid-stream dropouts.

DAB 20 reception noticeably worse after fitting a replacement battery

The RF front-end in the DAB 20 scales its amplifier output based on available supply voltage. A battery that reads 8.4V nominal but cannot sustain that under load delivers less headroom to the tuner, which reduces signal sensitivity. This is most obvious in fringe coverage areas where the radio needs maximum RF gain to hold a multiplex. Check the pack is fully charged — a resting voltage below 8.0V on a Ni-MH pack indicates incomplete charging; reconnect to the charger until the charge cycle completes fully.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Dual DAB 20 lost all its saved stations after I swapped the battery — do I need to re-enter them manually?

No manual re-entry needed. The DAB 20 stores its station list in volatile memory, so any power interruption — including removing a flat battery — wipes the list. Go to the auto-scan or full scan option in the radio's menu and let it run to completion. It will rebuild every available multiplex and station for your area automatically.

The DAB 20 cuts out mid-broadcast but the battery indicator still shows charge — what's happening?

The DAB decoder needs a stable voltage above its minimum threshold to hold stream sync. Even if the indicator shows charge remaining, a degraded or partially discharged Ni-MH pack sags under the combined load of the RF tuner and decoder. That instantaneous dip breaks frame sync and drops the audio. Fit a fully charged replacement and confirm resting voltage is at or above 8.4V before use.

Battery life on the Dual DAB 20 seems noticeably shorter when I use it in areas with a weak DAB signal — is something wrong with the battery?

Nothing is wrong — this is expected behaviour. In weak signal areas the DAB 20's RF front-end draws more current to maintain tuner sensitivity, which increases the load on the battery. A stronger signal area uses less RF power and the pack lasts longer between charges. If you regularly use the radio in low-coverage areas, ensure the pack is fully charged before each session to get the most from each charge cycle.
