Fits Pure Avalon N5 and Evoke D4 series DAB radios, replaces OEM part F1.
3.7V 8800mAh lithium-ion cell delivers stable voltage for full RF transmission power during station scanning and playback.
Slide connector seats into the battery compartment with single locking tab; orientation marked on the radio housing.
Bench testing confirmed the BMS accepts charge cycles without early cutoff; voltage held steady under continuous DAB decode load.
After installation, run a full auto-scan for stations before manual tuning — DAB radios reset their station list after power loss and need fresh RF acquisition to rebuild the cache.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Pure Avalon N5 / Evoke D4 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (F1)

This 3.7V 8800mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original F1 cell in the Pure Avalon N5, Evoke D4, Evoke D4 Domino, Evoke D4 Mio, and over eleven additional Pure DAB digital radio models. It restores power to portable DAB+ receivers that have lost capacity through normal cycle wear. Voltage and cell dimensions match the original specification exactly: 70.50 × 73.50 × 19.00mm.

  • Avalon N5 and Evoke D4 platform fit: These models share a common battery bay geometry and the same F1 cell format — identical connector pinout, cell dimensions, and 3.7V nominal voltage rail — so one replacement covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Evoke D4 platform. The BMS accepted a full charge cycle without fault flags, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage threshold, preventing deep discharge damage.
  • Post-swap station scan on DAB radios: After fitting this battery, run a full auto-scan from the radio's menu before manual tuning. DAB station lists are held in volatile memory and are wiped whenever power is fully interrupted — the radio needs a fresh scan to rebuild the complete station list for your area.

Radio cutting out mid-station at low battery

The DAB decoder inside the Evoke D4 and Avalon N5 requires a stable, consistent voltage to maintain stream synchronisation. When the battery sags below roughly 3.4V under load, the decoder loses lock on the multiplex and the audio drops out — even if the battery indicator still shows one bar. This is a decoder voltage floor issue, not a signal problem. Fitting a fresh cell at full charge eliminates the sag and restores clean stream decode.

Reception noticeably worse in low-signal areas after an old battery degrades

In weak DAB coverage areas, the Pure radio pushes its RF front-end harder to acquire and hold a signal. A degraded battery cannot sustain the voltage the RF stage needs under that elevated draw, so sensitivity drops and the signal-quality bar falls. This looks like a worsening of local coverage but is actually a power delivery failure. Replacing the cell and confirming voltage sits above 3.7V at rest resolves the issue.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Pure Evoke D4 lost all its saved stations after I swapped the battery — how do I get them back?

DAB station lists are stored in volatile memory and are cleared whenever power is fully cut — this happens every time the battery is removed. There is no way to recover the previous list. Go to the radio's menu, run a full auto-scan, and let it complete without interruption; it will rebuild the entire station list for your region from scratch.

The radio cuts out mid-song even though the battery indicator still shows charge — what's causing it?

The DAB stream decoder needs a stable voltage to maintain lock on the multiplex. As the battery ages, it sags under load even when the indicator reads mid-level, and that sag drops the decoder below its minimum operating voltage — breaking the stream. The indicator measures resting voltage, not load voltage, so it lags behind the real state. Fit a new cell and confirm it charges fully to 4.2V before use.

Battery life on the Pure Avalon N5 seems much shorter when I use it in areas with a weak DAB signal — is that normal?

Yes, and it is a measurable effect. In poor coverage areas the RF front-end works significantly harder to acquire and hold the DAB multiplex, drawing more current from the cell than it would in a strong-signal area. A degraded original battery compounds this because it cannot sustain the required voltage under that heavier load. A new 8800mAh cell handles the elevated draw more effectively — check that the radio's aerial is fully extended and positioned vertically to reduce the signal search load on the RF stage.
