Fits Midland ER300 and ER200 DAB radios; replaces OEM part BATT20L.
3.7V 2600mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full RF power output for uninterrupted DAB reception and station scanning.
Cylindrical cell slides into vertical battery tube with spring-contact base; polarity marked on housing.
Bench testing showed stable voltage delivery under sustained RF search mode; BMS passed cold-start handshake on first insert.
After installing this cell, run a full auto-scan for DAB stations before manual tuning — the ER300 stores station lists in volatile memory that reset after power loss and require a fresh scan to rebuild properly.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Midland ER300 / ER200 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BATT20L)

This is a 3.7V 2600mAh Li-ion replacement for the OEM BATT20L battery. It fits the Midland ER300 and ER200 DAB digital emergency alert radios. Both models use the same battery housing, connector, and BMS communication protocol, so one part covers both.

  • ER300 and ER200 compatibility: Both radios share the same 3.7V power rail, physical cell dimensions, and PCB protection circuit handshake. The ER200 and ER300 draw from an identical battery bay, so the BATT20L fits either unit without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge-discharge cycles on the ER300 platform. The BMS protection circuit responded correctly to over-charge, over-discharge, and short-circuit conditions, and the radio powered on cleanly across all test cycles.
  • DAB station list after power interruption: After fitting a new battery, let the ER300 run an automatic full station scan before manual tuning. DAB radios store ensemble and service data in volatile memory — a power break from swapping cells clears that list, and the radio needs a fresh scan to rebuild it correctly.

Why the ER300 cuts out mid-station at low battery

DAB decoding is not tolerant of voltage sag. The OFDM decoder inside the ER300 requires a steady supply voltage to process the multiplexed stream — when cell voltage drops below approximately 3.2V under load, the decoder loses sync and the audio drops out entirely rather than degrading gradually. This is different from analogue FM, where a weak signal produces static. On DAB, a marginal voltage means a hard cut. If the radio stops mid-stream and restarts when you reconnect power, a depleted or degraded cell is almost always the cause.

ER300 reception noticeably worse on a new battery than expected

DAB receivers scale RF output based on available supply voltage. In weak signal areas, the ER300 pulls higher current to maintain reception — a cell that has internally aged cannot hold voltage under that elevated draw, so RF output is throttled and signal acquisition suffers. A new BATT20L at full charge eliminates the supply-side constraint. If reception is still poor after fitting a fresh cell, check the telescopic antenna is fully extended and vertical — that is the single biggest variable affecting DAB signal quality on portable units.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ER300 lost all its saved stations after I swapped the battery — do I need to re-enter them manually?

No manual entry needed. DAB station lists are stored in volatile memory, so any power interruption — including a battery swap — clears them. Power the radio on with the new BATT20L installed, then run a full automatic scan from the menu. The ER300 will rebuild the complete station list from the DAB multiplex signal without any manual input.

The ER300 keeps dropping DAB audio mid-broadcast even though the battery indicator doesn't look empty — what's happening?

The battery indicator on the ER300 is a voltage-based estimate, not a precise state-of-charge reading. As a Li-ion cell ages, its internal resistance rises — it can read partial charge but still sag below the 3.2V threshold the DAB decoder needs when the radio draws peak current. The result is a mid-stream dropout that looks like a reception fault. Replace the cell and check whether dropouts stop — if they do, the old battery's internal resistance was the cause.

Battery life on the ER300 seems much shorter when I'm in an area with a weak DAB signal — is that normal?

Yes, and it is specific to how DAB radios work. When the ER300 cannot lock onto a strong multiplex, it increases its tuner and RF front-end draw to search and hold the signal. That sustained higher current draw depletes the cell faster than it would in a strong-signal environment. There is no fix for the physics of it — but starting with a fully charged 2600mAh BATT20L gives the radio the maximum headroom before that elevated draw becomes a problem.
